From what I have heard around here, those who got to the polls when they opened (6AM) waited about 1-1.5 hours. Those who showed up a but later waited a bit less.

I went at about the same time I always do and I waited about 3x as long as normal (about an hour vs. 20 minutes). So while it wasn't a several hour wait, it was significantly more than in 2000 and 2004.

We breezed in and out here in Raleigh about 2 hours ago. I was surprised that there were no lines.

Today was weird for me. Let's see how things go tonight.

This morning I rode the bike to the Jr High polling station. The line snaked across the basketball court, around the outfield, and on to the sidewalk. Never seen that before! Left work at 11:30 and rode the 15 min to vote - no lines at all.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

May I ask why some States do not allow early voting? Why is that?

SJ,
No, it's just easier. I voted a week ago, didn't have to stand in the lines I see that the Folks in the East had to stand in line for hours. That is wrong.

Just curious...what is the reason for no early voting in your State?

SJ,
And, you know what, it only matters that you voted.

Seriously.

Oh and I should have added your footnote:

BE COOL!

Teresa - As an American, I will always feel indebted to President Bush. Eight safe years is eight safe years. He has gotten a bad rap, without a doubt in my mind - I know most here disagree.

Hey Flip - can you just take your win with a little class? Must you continually kick a man on his way out the door? Maybe a show of some respect would be warranted.

As for his popularity, your Dem congress is at 9%. I'm not a mathematician, but I believe that means 91% of us think they are doing a pretty shitty job.

I am just, like you, trying to provide some perspective. Sorry. Has the election been called?
