The predominant wind direction is from the E - the sun also rises in the E - the Eastern and windward side of the island gives up moisture to both and the clouds form on the N. and highest peaks , cause rain fall ,and intensity varies by the cloud density. Sage Mt. Tortola , then Bordeaux Mt. St J, then Crown Mt. St T , then El Yunque PR are all basically E-W of each other and you can generally watch the cloud line run right down them. The NW highest point of each island gets the most rain.
If you isolate STT and STJ by clicking on a radar site and put the animate map function on- you can watch the rain clouds move according to the wind direction and anticipate any rain as well. Use something like the wunderground.com zip00801 click radar and then box STJ STT with your cursor.
The weather is different on different parts of the island.
