Well this is definitely a personal preference topic. I've heard good reviews (not rave reviews..but good reviews) about the Olympus UW series. I've heard horror stories about the Olympus UW series. I'm sure the same can be said for any certain UW case and any certain brand of camera.

Myself...I'm a Canon girl and cannot say enough about 'em. I have two point & shoots...SD450 & SD850IS...(only because I thought I had lost one)... :? with respective UW housings. I must admit...I was literally almost sick the first dip or two! But ALAS!!!...never a leak...not even a drop. Just follow the instructions on care and cleaning and no worries! It really amazes me!

Here's a look at some of my SD850IS UW photos...

And here's a link to BH Photo...where I've made both of my underwater housing purchases...love 'em!

Like several have said...do your homework & read the reviews. I found them very helpful! The good news is...either way...you'll be underwater in paradise & that just don't suck!

Good Luck!

I've been so tempted to replace our Canon and it's u/w housing with the 1030SW to reduce the bulk but the number of reviews I've read about people getting a leak the first or second time out with the their Olympus cameras (including the 1030) has been enough to keep me from making the switch.

Well, all,
-39 years ago today, your little buddy Jim here, was born. After racking my brain and yours about an underwater digital camera, my beautiful fiancee surprised me with an Olympus Stylus 850SW.
She's so rockin'.
It's just another tease, as we await our return to STJ in just 37 days.
Thanks for all of your help! I guess all I need now is a housing for it. (The camera, not the fiancee!)

WOW!!!

That thing looks like the ship I came to earth on!!!

Seriously though...the 'site' on the top could be very useful. On of the issues I have using my underwater case is the glare on the LCD screen makes it all but impossible to see what I am actually shooting. Practice makes it easier, but when you are upside-down, underwater, feet in the air, and peeping under a rock to get a good pic of a tiger shrimp, it's a bit difficult!!
