St John Inn

Post by Taylor »

Are we having fun yet?! Okay...this has got to be the last short term housing question that I pester 'ya all with...I am going nuts!

Any recent opinions of St John Inn? When I search I don't see much that is recent and the older stuff does not sound good.

Soooo, between Concordia Eco-tents, St John Inn, Samuels Cottages or Cruz View for a 2 night stay prior to going to a villa...which would you choose and why? We are looking for clean, decent and perhaps something of a view.

Thanks again to all

Did you see my post on Sailview (it's in the other thread) - didn't know if you had seen that or not.

I have stayed at St John Inn and it was fine - nothing fancy but OK for us for the night we stayed there (it was prior to moving here) Have not stayed at any of the others so can't be of much help :)

I've only stayed at Concordia of those you listed, but we loved it there. Gorgeous views, lots of breeze, very nice upscale tents with private solar shower and toilet, decks, sink, 2 burners, chest fridge, kitchen supplies, a community pool, and a new restaurant. My only caveat is that it is a long way from the towns and most beaches (Salt Pond and Lameshur are close), and that's the main reason why we didn't stay there again on our most recent trip in August. It was about 15-20 minutes to Coral Bay and more like 45 minutes to Cruz Bay--too much time in the Jeep for me. But the plus side of that is that it is remote and beautiful, so if solitude is your thing, it would be just fine for 2 nights. We stayed in tent E25, which had great views of Drunk Bay and Salt Pond, but it was also ALL the way at the bottom of the steps, so lugging our stuff up and down was tough. I remember thinking that if we stayed there again I would ask for E20, a newer tent that was about halfway between the bottom and the top of the hill.

Good luck with your decision! I saw that Pia recommended Sail View, which looks lovely and is in Coral Bay. No kitchen, but I think there's a gas grill and you can always eat at Skinny's and Sweet Plantains for 2 days!

I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks than in the drink with a boat on the rocks

We are staying at St John Inn for 1 night in exactly 2 weeks. We chose it for price ($100), air conditioning, walking distance to Courtesy Car Rental and Pia recommended it!!

If you want to be right in the heart of Cruz Bay for a few days, I would go for it!

Pia:

I did see your suggestion (thanks much!) and wrote to see if both of the rooms are available. That is my favorite, hands down. However, since I am generally not that lucky, I thought I would try to line up the next choice. Of those I listed, they all have vacancies for my two nights.

Thanks again,
T.

Hey Taylor

I know Eileen (the owner) is in New York on vacation for another 10 days or so and I'm not sure she will be able to get back to you right now - just don't want you to think she is ignoring you :)

Pia:

Thanks for the update. Eileen just responded moments ago that they are booked for my dates. I did bookmark their site for future consideration.

Guess, it is back to the original selections.

Thankjs,
T.

I hope something is open when we get off the 11 p.m. ferry! We will need a painkiller or some strong beverage after a full day of travel!
Kirk~ What bar stays open that late Oct. 1st?

Pia it's not really new , been around since about Nov. of last year. I'm sure you've read about it in the paper as it is illegal and it's where the incident happen around Christmas. they play loud latin music mostly on the weekends.
