Concordia Eco-tents
Concordia Eco-tents
I have reserved a villa for a week but was thinking of extending the trip by a couple of days. Currently the only accomodations that I can find for our party are the Concordia Eco-tents. I understand it to be civilized camping which is fine with us. Does anyone have any input that they can provide? I noted that there are screens, yet the floors look to be like a deck. Any major issues with critters?
Also, I understand that they are two levels. If you were traveling with very good friends would you have an issue sharing the tent or would you get two units?
Thanks to everyone that has been providing me with information. It is most appreciated.

The two of us have stayed in Concordia's eco-tents five or six times for as long as two weeks. We have had visiting mouseys, twice. Bugs have never been a problem HOWEVER we always visit in late winter. I'd be hesitant to share an eco-tent with another couple.
It WILL be way different than a villa, so be prepared.

Try Cruz Views - we stay there when we extend our week. We like #7 and #10 units.

I've stayed at Concordia twice and loved it, civilized camping is perfect way to describe. The bugs and critters are nearly a non-event in my experience, but it could depend upon time of year. Keep the food put away, as the ants could come out. If mosquitoes are bad, and there seems to be no way to know for sure as it changes all the time, you'll want to get one of tents with wind, lots of wind, try for # 13 or 14, they get a ton of wind, might wake you up wind, but at least no biting bugs at night. You could try for a tent above 13 or 14, still in wind postion, but maybe a few less stairs to climb in the heat. Otherwise, enjoy the breathtaking views morning and night, you may want to just live there if you could. The cafe is very good, too.
Taylor, we did the exact thing you're thinking about doing during our trip this past May/June. We had a villa rented for a week and wanted to extend the vacation for few days for less money. We asked for a tent in the windy area, based on advice from the forum, and I think we got #12(?). It was like the second one down the hill/steps as far out the road as you can get. Very, very windy out there, which kept the tent cool and the bugs away for the most part. The only other critters we saw were an occasional lizard and the local cats.
As others stated, I would not recommend one tent for two couples. There is probably plenty of room, but little privacy. Otherwise, they're surprisingly comfortable and clean, cheap, and have amazing views. We're not campers by any stretch of the imagination, but we all said we could go back and stay for a week. And that includes our 21-year-old daughter, which trust me should tell you a lot! (She's a bit of a Princess...
)
My only other advice is this: If possible, book your Concordia nights for the nights BEFORE you move to the villa. If you do it at the tail end of the vacation (i.e., AFTER you've stayed in a nice villa for a week), your impression of Concordia could be vastly different!! Have a great time!

Have you looked at Sailview in Coral Bay ??? - Didn't know when you are coming but I have to say that they are beautiful with gracious hosts and a/c
The do not have a full kitchen if that is important to you or not but a small fridge and grill on a great outdoor deck
Check them out and the prices (depending on season) could work out in your favor
as "off season" at Sailview is $125 per night and Concordia is $105 (well worth the $20 per night extra to have a great shower and a/c) and "in season" Sailview is actually $10 per night cheaper
