Hawksbill villa question

Post by Jimm »

In the description for Hawksbill they say it's in a "semi private" location. Can anyone that has stayed there comment on this? If you're on the deck or in the pool can neighboring villas easily see you?

all our trips to stj have required only 2 bedrooms and hawksbill had most of features we want so was familar with generally where she was and appearance. however while staying on upper rockridge in dec 06 we spotted hawksbill on our drives up that road. she is very close to road and is part of a tight cluster of villas some of which use common drive.

to view area and id of villa go to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://bb ... 8&t=k&om=1

if you are not familar with area, follow south shore rd out of cruz bay past westin and turn left just past westin. while driving you will note street is at top of hill just past dumpster on left.

while we have stayed at several villas in close proximity to another, this area is to congested for my liking for a couples trip but might think differently on a guy trip since last minute rates are attractive and location is convenient to town and has western sunset views.

Hawksbill is in a small compund of villas with Jasmine, Periwinkle and rosebay ( I think I got the names right)
They share a driveway and are fairly close top each other. We considered them for a large group trip that we were going to take (then I realized that I hate traveling with people  )

If you are not looking to sunbathe in the buff and are tolerant of others, I think it is a good deal.

We stayed at Hawksbill in 2006. It was definitely private enough for us, though we don’t generally require a super high level of privacy. When we stayed at Hawksbill there was enough foliage cover that nobody from nearby villas would have been able to see the pool or deck area. I remember being able to see another villa from the pool deck, but it was down the hill from Hawksbill so if there were people there they wouldn’t be able to see you.

Hawksbill does not share a driveway with any other villas.

Let me know if you have any more questions :)

We did two weeks at Periwinkle. Its a nice area with mature landscaping and a good bit of fruit trees. We never ran out of key limes. Nothing fancy, but I like it.

We stayed @ Jasmine back in 1996.I think Hawsbill was just above the pool area at Jasmine. We looked in the windows of Hawksbill and it seemed like a nice place to stay.Semi private i'd say.Parafins

We stayed there back in Spring of 2006. I really, really liked it. Only the bedrooms were air conditioned, but with the fans running and the breezes, it wasn't too bad. We had our own driveway and a resident cat who visited daily!

VaGirl...I'm pretty sure you were there in 2007 :)...I was happy that the resident kitty was doing well after we'd stayed there in the summer of 2006, and I remember talking about Hawskbill with you before your stay there.

I still wonder about that cat and hope she's doing well :)

I could have sworn there was a shared driveway, I guess my old age is showing!

X, maybe you're thinking of one of the other villas in that area?

This is what the entrance to Hawksbill looks like...this arch is at the top left side of the driveway:

You're right, it was April or May 2007 - time is going by too fast for me. I remember last November when SOTB was staying "up the hill", we passed by the driveway and I also wondered about Miss Kitty! Thanks for helping me shake the cobwebs out of my brain!
