I just can't take it anymore!

Post by Xislandgirl »

The never ending villa search is getting to me. I think that Chip and I looked every villa rental on the island last night ( all 612.5 of them) and still can not make a decision.

I know that everyone has a tough timre making a decision on where to stay, but I sure wish it were easier.

Hopefully, you've narrowed it down some :D

I've had the same problem, but there's probably a few that you keep on going back to. Just put the other ones to the side and go with your best instinct.

Good luc!

I did spreadsheet with clickable links to the villa sites. Helped a lot. Both my wife and I spent a Sunday afternoon simultaneously on our laptops clicking links and discussing villas- pulling the trigger was still a difficult decision, but at least both of us were on the same page.

Why not post your top ten choices and have the forum vote for a favorite?

This is my top choices, although I think that Chip's may be a little different.
Our must have list is: Pool, ac in bedrooms, king beds, and under $3000 for the week off season for 4

I see Hale Lani, and I definitely have to vote for that one. I think you'd be very happy with it for four people. I wish we could've stayed there this year.

Well, La Mer does not have air conditioning, so I think you have to cross it off your list. Too bad, because it has awesome views!

John and I stayed at Belvedere in 2004. We enjoyed our stay, though I know I later read reports of maintenance issues--I think the house was on the market for a while and some stuff needed to get fixed. I specifically remember someone saying that water flowed fron an electrical outlet in one of the bedrooms during a storm. We certainly did not experience anything like that, but you might want to check on the upkeep.

The views are great from Belvedere, and I really liked the pool too.

I thought that since La Mer was on Bordeaux, we would be ok without AC, or at least that is what I would tell Chip

We stayed at Calypso Del Sol in June and would definitely stay there again. Awesome pool, great location (can't see Pond Bay), full A/C.

Xislandgirl,

I'm not sure when you're planning on going, but we stayed in the villa just below La Mer in June (2005) and definitely needed the AC in the bedrooms, and wish we would have had it in the great room. However, La Mer is a little more exposed than where we stayed - so maybe it gets more of the breezes? We were below the tree line in most parts of the villa which blocked a lot of the breezes. But even the great room, which had a beautiful view, didn't get much breeze.

Happy villa hunting!

Hey X,

This new one on DSJ's site caught my eye and it looks like it fits your criteria

This villa looks beautiful! My only question is what are the views like? It seems to show everything but what the view is from the villa (the one view they show seems to be the standard Coral Bay lookout view). Or, am I wrong?
