Jost accomodations

Post by Badger5 »

Hi all,

I know that this is a BVI question, but I also know that some of you have stayed on Jost for a night or two. We are planning our 20th wedding anniversary next spring and were thinking about staying on Jost for 2-3 nights before we head off to Peter island. We love St. John but have been there three years in a row and thought we would try something a little different. Could anyone recommend a great place to stay? We are looking at Sandcastle and frankly it looks perfect!! What do you think??

thank you!

Check out White Bay Villas - http://www.jostvandyke.com/

I used to recommend the Perfect Pineapple condos, but since Gregory and Olga got divorced, Gregory is not making it happen.

Another option that looks to be very nice and has a very good reputation is Ivan's - http://www.ivansstressfreeguesthouse.com/

I have always been curious about this place. It is rented through Caribbbean Villas.

I've seen multiple positive reviews for Pink House over on the TTOL BVI forum. It's on a remarkable and nearly private section of White Bay. The horde from the Soggy Dollar area rarely comes over because you have walk across a forbidding looking, but easy, trail.

I'd love to stay there sometime. Probably with my kids because my travel buddies cannot conceive of living without a/c. Their loss.

Here's a shot of the beach in front of Pink House:

We stayed at one of the cottages at White Bay Villa a few years ago. It was wonderful...clean, private, easy access to beach and bars! I would go back in an instant!
However, Sandcastle looked great too..right in the middle of all of the action and right there at the Soggy Dollar for lunch and dinner and lots of people! I would go there in an instant, too!
So I have been NO help!

I've heard great things about White Bay Villas from seasoned travelers. The only negatives came from people who were first time VI travelers and had not done their research. "Oh my god, there is no supermarket on the island. I saw a mosquito on my patio."

It's on my list to stay. I would just have to listen to that annoying whine as we walked up the hill after a late night at Ivan's.

We just stayed at Ivan's Guest House this past summer. It was very nice. It has a queen size bed, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a full bath. We stayed in the smaller studio. There is a larger two bedroom up above. It was unoccupied while we were there over the summer. It has a wonderful view of the beach. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the Soggy Dollar and all the other bars along there.

My husband and I stayed here in December of 2007. Wonderful place to stay, a bit out of the way, but if you want a private beach and the Jost to yourself, I would stay here!!
