for my huevos rancheros, I just dump a can or two of rotel tomatoes with chilis in a skillet. I then make hollows in the mix for the eggs, and poach them in the tomatoes. Place on a heated tortilla and top with crumbled goat cheese and cilantro. Not authentic, but I like them.

Great pictures, everyone. I was inspired by Becky's sandwiches to make a platter for guests who were arriving rather late, the other night, from Spain.

Mini "muffalattas" on baby brioches (no muffalatta bread here that I can find....)

Mini ciabattas: one containing prosciutto, basil butter, orange-fig jam, thinly-sliced apple, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves; one containing sliced grilled steak, horseradish, cress leaves, and freshly-picked tomato.

Figs and champagne grapes.

Orange fig jam? Where did you find that, Maryanne? I think I need to make that sandwich.

I don't have any pictures but I did have a food porn experience last night (bump-chica-wow-wow).

A bunch of ladies from work had a dinner party get and we had:

Raspberry-Lime Rickey with a shot(s) of Absolut
Wine(s)
Triple Cream Brie
Gruyere
Some garlic-dill cheese that I didn't catch the name of
A nice Parisien bread
Fresh Salsa & Chips
Sweet Potato Salad
Locally Grown In-Season Garden Salad (with purple bell peppers!)
Sliced Ripe Avacado
Chicken Kabobs cooked slow & low
Chocolate chip cookie Brownies
Locally grown & prepared blueberry pie
Vanilla Ice Cream

Yowza!!

I'm not a cheese person so the gruyere was new for me. It was awesome! Brie was a new experience as well and it was heavenly.

Yum!!

Lysa, that sounds like a really great spread!

I don't normally have anything dessert-y to share because I don't have a sweet tooth (except for the white chocolate tarragon souffle that I STILL have not figured out!) but the other day I stopped and picked up these really cute cupcakes for John:

Left to right, we have cappucino, boston cream, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate.

Last night my 11 year old was having trouble sleeping and wanted something to read that would help her sleep. I gave her the Fanny Farmer baking cookbook. It worked great, she fell asleep in 15 minutes, after marking 3 recipes. It looks like we are making pie this weekend.

Maryanne, the store is called Sweet. It's on Mass Ave. The closest T stop is Hynes. It's across the street from the T--turn right and walk down about 1/2 block...by India Samarrat, before the bridge, and kind of across from "The Wine Cellar" restaurant  .

We ate one of them. Verdict: YUM. On the Boston cream anyway.

Here are some photos. This is John's dinner last night. The risotto has sun gold 100 tomatoes and corn from the farmer's market. That was my dinner, along with the baked eggplant:

some squid:

We had Sweet Christine's parents over for dinner last night. The only thing we did not get around to making as planned was Caprese salad, which is silly since we are picking a peck of tomatoes a day right now. Our appetizer was home made salsa that was gone before the camera came out.

Sirloin Steaks with Cruz Bay Grill Rub, Garlic, Black Pepper, Olive Oil and Light Soy Sauce:

with Shrooms:

Creamed Spinach:

Homegrown Carrots Glazed with Tupelo Honey, picked that day:

Lemon Meringue Pie made by my 11 year old Ana (with help from Dad). We used the Fanny Farmer Baking Book recipe that I found very easy. The only hard part was convincing Ana that those egg whites and sugar would actually turn into a meringue!:
