Some enjoyable writing by Peter Muilenburg, longtime resident of STJ:

I've always thought it would be a wonderful experience to go out on Breath for a day with him. If we ever get to STJ again, I hope we actually do it.

I hadn't been to that website before. Some interesting stuff going on. I hope they keep it going.

We had the pleasure of having lunch with Peter and Dorothy and also visiting their home during our last visit. Peter wanted to build their home where he could see his boat in Coral Bay, what an incredible view they have. Peter and Dorothy are fascinating people, and it was interesting seeing a resident home versus a villa.

We met Peter and his wife Dorothy when we went out on Breath in Dec. 2005; unfortunately, Peter wasn't well enough at that time to captain the boat, but they both came down to the dock to meet us. Extremely nice people with fascinating stories to tell. Thanks for posting this, Lex.

I don't come here much any more, but to read Peter's article was well worth the time. The images as he traveled across island was fantastic. Thanks so much for pointing us to his link.

I second the book recommendation: Adrift on a Sea of Blue Light http://www.amazon.com/Adrift-Sea-Blue-L ... 0976139707.

For me, "Adrift" it is a must read for all who love STJ and the people who make this island so special. He and his family have really lived their dreams.

I've often thought about trying to track Peter down on island, but I figured he'd think I was a freak. Also after some discussion with Moe at Skinny's he said that Peter has been in poor health for a while. So I didn't want to be obnoxious. I would just love to sit and chat with him.

But I do love that book!

NancyB - he will love it!

I really enjoyed the book. I have in on my travel shelf and I re-read sections when I want to relax.

Each chapter is a different story/experience, which makes it a great airplane book.

The things he did are amazing, even more so that they all did it as a family.

That article appeared in either Caribbean Travel & Life or Islands magazine a number of years back. I remember reading it and enjoying it. Thanks for the link.
