Flip Flop,
We did this trip in May & the fare then was $50.00 for an adult & there was a notice that it was going up to $60.00 shortly after that.

We made the trip in June. It leaves from the National Park dock, not the one you come in on from STT, you buy your tickets from the trailer by the gate. I hope it doesn't happen to you, but carting a little one I thought I'd let you know... the ferry broke at some point during the day and our 3:00 departure didn't happen. We were all standing around in the heat waiting and waiting when the little girl whose mom owns the convenience store near the dock on JVD came over to tell us 'ferry is broken, they'll be here to pick you up eventually'. Nobody knew when (4? 6? 10? No, just eventually). We started getting hungry so walked over to "town", but without any kind of time estimate or early warning system we ended up RUNNING back to the ferry dock when we saw the boat coming around the point (friends were leaving next day so couldn't afford to miss it). I think it was some time between 6 and 7. A great day though!

They do not serve alcohol on the ferry & I do not believe that you can drink on the ferry.
We did take a cooler with alcohol in it, but did not
drink on the ferry.

Maybe it was longer. On the way it took about 45 minutes, but that was with stopping in customs on Tortola. It seemed like it was only half the time to get back, but maybe it was longer. The ferry did leave a little bit early, and we had gone through customs and were at the Beach Bar for Happy Hour not long after 3:30...
