This villa is next door to Caneel Trailside Cottage and looks a great deal like it. Great location, very accessible, brand new and at least last summer there was no construction nearby, plus the Caneel Hill-Margaret Hill Trail runs literally right behind the villa.

How do you get to Villa Tamarindo?

You go up Centerline Road to Compass Rose Restaurant, just after Compass Rose there is a dumpster on the left and you take a left at the dumpster, you go about 200-300 yards and turn right up a driveway that would be great to sleigh ride down in the snow. I used the lowest gear on the Suzuki Grand Vitara getting up the driveway.

We stayed in the Pastory area once...I don't remember the views much...how were they?

From the front porch of Caneel Trailside Cottage (next door to Villa Tamarindo) you look to the South. No views of STT, but if the haze is not bad you can see STX. The week we were there, the haze was bad.

is the pool in the back of the house or something? it looks odd in the photos, any views from the pool area?

The pool at Caneel was in the left back as you face the house. The pool at Tamarindo appears to be in the back. Thet were still working on it last summer when we were there.

We stayed at Caneel Trailside Cottage earlier this month, and we met the owner of the neighboring Villa Tamarindo (and got a tour of the villa). Both villas are very nice (nearly identical), but we all agreed that we were glad to be staying at Caneel Trailside Cottage. Caneel Trailside Cottage was better furnished, and at Caneel Trialside Cottage the view is more Westerly and much more expansive of the water. Villa Tamarindo has a slightly larger and nicer pool deck and front porch, but has an identical pool, kitchen, overall layout & design. The owner of Villa Tamarindo lives in the basement with his (very nice) dog - Sheila. Sheila would bark at our car every time we drove past Villa Tamarindo. On one hand this was nice for a feeling of security, but on the other hand I would not want to wake up with her barking directly beneath my bed. From what we saw while driving around the rest of the island, both houses, and the location, cannot be beat. Having Sheila next door provided a great deal of comfort after reading about the recent villa break ins and robberies down in Great Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole.
