Finally! It's kinda-sorta a trip report!
Oh Lulu, I feel your pain on the camera! I killed mine in June by dropping it in the petroglyph pool on the Reef Bay hike. I was really upset about it because we had so much of our trip left. We ended up going over to St. Thomas to get a new one as soon as we could, but I was camera-less for our day sail with Captain Phil.
I'm glad you were still able to have a fun day despite the camera and phone issues.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Sorry lulu about the spill you took and lost some of your things.......
it is true though, there is something 'bout 'paradise that makes things easier to tolerate.....it is like stress disappears and time just moves along and we get this que sera sera attitude.
I had that for so long after coming back stateside from island. I am actually starting to lose that now so am looking forward to gaining it back in Jan when I am back on island.......

OMG, what a FANTASTIC time you guys had! I am sorry about your camera, that's a tough one. And I feel your pain getting stranded at the ferry dock. It happened to us last year, and it was a very unsettling.
I love the story about Jost and Ivan, and I really enjoyed your pics. You guys really got some good ones. Well the other gals did
But I'm sure you had some good ones going as well.
Thanks for posting, it's been a great read on a rainy Sunday morning.

Hi, everyone! Don't laugh at me. I was on here yesterday looking something up, and I realized that I never finished my trip report. I'm not sure why, because I wrote it. I just never posted it here.
So, here it is, almost a year later... I promise to be more timely this year, but I'm still not taking my laptop...
We woke up on Saturday with the plan to do some stuff we hadn’t gotten to yet and to visit some places we’d enjoyed but didn’t get to spend a lot of time at, namely that little beach by Vie’s.
We got our gear ready, stopped at Starfish for supplies. I was craving cheese and crackers and, of course, we needed more VI Summer Ale.
We loaded up and headed out to that little beach. It was just the four of us and it was amazing. I had my noodle this time and was looking forward to floating in the sun until Tiffany said she saw a sting ray. At first I was thinking of jelly fish, which I still find to be a little scary, and then someone said something about the Crocodile Hunter… Yeah, I don’t float on noodles when people can see things that can KILL me from the shore. I think Tiffany headed off to snorkel, but I cranked up the Marley, made some cheese and crackers and nodded off in my chair.
We met up with Lisa and Sandy at Skinny’s for lunch. I love Skinny’s. Today I had mango painkillers and a blue-cheese burger, and I’m pretty sure I had the key lime pie. I love the key lime pie there.
We also met Doris and Leslie, who were staying in a condo in Cruz Bay and had taken the $1 bus out to Coral Bay. Actually, they’d taken the $1 bus everywhere – and lived to tell about it! We made plans to meet them at Woody’s for happy hour. Yay, happy hour plans, even though it’s only lunch time!
After some mass confusion regarding the bill for our burgers and playing the hugest prank on the three people from our group who had abandoned us early in the week to stalk the little guy with the big hat and gee-tar (who I knew wasn’t on island, but it was way too funny to watch, so I couldn’t tell them), we headed off to Maho. (We had to leave before they arrived at Skinny’s. Thanks, Ruth, for giving us the idea!)
Maho is everything everyone said it was. It was just us and one other couple, I think. Of course, we’re a bit of a rowdy bunch and a little punch-happy that it is our last day, so I hope we didn’t annoy them too much. They did come out with us to look at the turtles and told us that they had bought some property on STJ. Lucky folks. This was a great beach to save for the last day, and I met my goal of one new beach each day.
We stopped back at Woody’s for happy hour. Whatever I was drinking was not one of the specials (I think it was my handy-dandy standby, the Blue Motorcycle), so we headed up to Quiet Mon. And there was Kenny behind the bar, which meant that it was strawberry black-out punch time! Wooohoooo!!!!
Kenny served up drinks for me and Rosalie. Good times. We tried to use our 2-for-1 coupon, but he wouldn’t take it. In fact, he wasn’t taking our money. So, we just started leaving him “tips” that were the equivalent of the bill. So, he kept bringing us drinks. Chad from Woody’s was there (I knew it was Chad because we asked him if he’d been on Jost the day before, and he said, “No that was my brother.” Although it was at this point that I suspect that they could possibly pretend to be each other just to jerk us around. Just saying, that’s all.) Anyhow, after our third drink and some spirited conversation about things maybe we might not want to mention, Toma cut Rosalie and I off. However, Kenny felt like we hadn’t gotten our money’s worth, and that’s when we learned: Don’t ever drink the fourth strawberry black-out punch.
After our merriment at Quiet Mon, we all realized it was late and we were starving, so we headed over to Margarita Phil’s for supper. I don’t remember much except having to go pee no less than a half dozen times. And our waitress looked just like Sandra Bernhard (is that the name of that actress who used to date Madonna – that’s who I mean). And, if you believe the pictures I saw later, she may have posed inappropriately with me in my drunken state. I somehow remember I had conch fritters, which were OK, and seafood enchiladas, which were super yum.
We ate dinner with our new friends Doris and Leslie and spent a lot of quality time with our waitress, who hid her booze at our table because she wasn’t supposed to drink on the job. Very fun. We all tried not to concentrate on it being our last night, but I think we were all a little sad – even in my Stoli-soaked condition.
On our way back to STJ Car Rental to get the car, we stopped by The Beach Bar to bid adieu to our new friend, Doug-MORE. He wanted to make me one last drink, but I’d been cut off since about 6 p.m., so I had to decline. (Or at least I think I declined…) We didn’t say “goodbye” but rather “See you later,” because we knew we’d be back soon enough. This little island had our hearts.
The next morning, some of us had to leave super-early to make that American flight. My flight didn’t leave until 2:15, so I packed my bags and then we all said goodbye to our lovely home for the week and that iguana that watched us in the pool. We stopped at the Westin for the breakfast buffet on our way to take the cars back. It was good, but I can’t eat enough to get my “money’s worth” at most buffets, especially not at the Westin’s prices.
We took our rental cars back, bought some last-minute stuff at St. John Spice, and then headed over on the C.A. ferry to downtown. Our cab driver watched our bags while we bought some booze and had a drink. After an hour or so, it was off to the airport. We said our goodbyes, talked about when we were going to get back, and then got on our different planes and went home. It was bittersweet, but I think knowing that you’ll be back soon enough helps you get through the goodbye. It was great that we made new friends in Sandy, Lisa, Doris and Leslie.
My flight was delayed in Atlanta, which probably wouldn’t have been a big deal if I weren’t exhausted and had to be back to work the next day. Oh, and I didn’t have a cell phone. But I got home in one piece, and when I got back to Nashville, it was actually chilly.
Or maybe it was because I was wearing khaki shorts, my new St. John t-shirt and flip-flops in mid-October…

Lulu, I have been reading your trip reports for about 30 minutes! I have to get OFF this computer and get dinner started! Are you a writer? You should be. Great job with all the reports, but Day 4 is my favorite. Wouldn't it be cool if we could pick a day from these trip reports and transport back in time to that day and relive it with you?! I think your signature on these postings should be"It's hard to be pissed in paradise." Love it!
I am a professional writer, and I STILL managed to tell you all about my chocolate cake with mango filling that we ate for someone-you-don't-know's birthday. I'm soooo unsophisticated. (I couldn't resist making fun of the trip report conversation we had earlier.)
I'm glad everyone enjoyed my trip report. I am ready to go back. And no minute-by-minute reports for me, because I am flying Spirit and can't take my laptop because I have to use my carry-on allowance for the luggage I'm too cheap to check. It's $30! $30!

I'm glad it's not just me. Everyone made fun of me. By the time we got to Jost, everytime we went around a blind curve (in that crazy jitney), Tiffany would look at me and say "Oh, Sweet Georgia Brown" (which is my favorite exclamation) and then start laughing at me. It's not funny; those roads are a death trap!
