Reef Madness or Miles Away?

Post by Nancy_B »

We are finalizing our villa choice for February 2009. We are 2 couples who have both been to the island 10+ times. We have never stayed on the Coral Bay side but we've said we'd like to try it. My only hesitancy in staying there is will my husband get tired of driving back to Cruz Bay? I love the Beach Bar but I'm hoping we'll love Island Blues or Shipwreck landing. Also, I do love sunset so we'd have to hike out to Ram's Head to see it :)

Both villas are great - Reef Madness seems to have better views and it is brand new and Randy did such a great job with it. I also like that both have equal master bedrooms.

I would love to hear your input!

While I've only seen the outside of Miles Away, I'd choose RM in a heartbeat. (And it's not just because I have been inside RM or because I adore it's owners.)

The reason(s) I say this is because 1) the view is fantastic, you will love it. 2) It sounds like you're all old hats at this, and so you know how to plan your time if you're in Coral Bay. You don't have to be close to town because you can arrange your days around the drive (does that make sense?).
I could probably come up with more reasons, but those are what first came to mind.

I do think you'd be please with either, but that's probably because I'm still suffering withdrawls.

If we ever decide to stay in Coral Bay, we will book Reef Madness. The pool looks amazing! Plus I think you get a little bit more afternoon sun there than most of the villas in Coral Bay.

Good luck!

I have both on my wish list so I am of no help.

As you know, we are in the same boat when it comes to husband's and Coral Bay. Had the little guy been accepted at RM, that's where we would be headed in February.

I say stay at both, RM for the first week and Miles Away for the second and then gives us a full report about bar-accessibility when you return!

we've had the pleasure of meeting Nancy & hubby at BB this past May ! Hi u two !! She knows we have stayed At Lovely MA in May. she has e-mailed us about the villa & view. They r both beautiful villas ! but when it comes to the driving part from coral bay it makes the choice for us , only because we love being in cruz bay in the evenings & will not drive that route at nite ! we have enjoyed Island blues & Shipwreck & alway's head over during the day ! Good Luck Nancy ! it all comes down to the driving ........ at least for us it does.... Best Rachelle & Joe 8)

Thank you everyone for your input - I really appreciate it!

Hi, Pianogrl and the Pagans, it was great meeting you also and thank you for your recommendations.

PA_girl, I like your thinking - one week at each :) Ron liked it too! However, we're actually thinking Weds-Sat on Jost (I'll probably start another thread on that for recommendations for lodging and how to get there (no ferry on Weds) and then a week on St. John for February. We will be back in May and one of these villas may fit the bill for a week or two then but we haven't firmed up our groups yet (the worst part about the villa hunt).

Our friends in CA have deferred the decision to us. I'm writing my pro/con list and I appreciate all the input. The owners of Miles Away also reached out to me. They have some upgrades planned for this September that sound wonderful. This is a good thing that I have such wonderful villas to choose from - just need to make it quick so that they both remain available for me to choose from.

A couple of days on Jost sounds like a great idea.

Nancy, would you please PM me about the upgrades the owners of Miles Away are planning? We're staying there in late April.

Thanks!
