Rum Hut Pizzeria & new Tamarind Night & Roundabout

Post by Eric on St John »

The pizzeria next to Rum Hut opened yesterday and was already pretty busy. $3/slice cheese, $4/slice other stuff. $8-$9 subs & wraps. Have not sampled yet.

Tamarind has a new Thursday night chef doing inexpensive and good "solid food". Flank steak, 7 cheese Mac & Cheese, braised pork, swedish meatballs, perogies. Some shirmp apps and a tofu entree for the non-carnivores. Entrees not too large but everything was good, cheap & fast. A hard combination on STJ. works well to get "one or two of everything" and split up. Apps $4-$6, entress $8-$11.

And Road Construction Ahead signs have gone up at the Texaco intersection. No other signs of life yet though!

Thursday Tamarind night is being called "GastroGrub Night" Don't know if that's official and/or permanent but that's what was on the chalk board. Talked with some of the other diners today and they all really enjoyed their meals as well so it wasn't just us. I was reminded that there were also grilled asparagus, roasted rosemary potatos & baked potatos with spinach & brie (we think they needed some bacon!) for sides.

Thanks! We're packed and will be heading out to the airport. We may be stopping by this evening!
