Ruth, I'm with you. I completely skipped the anti-smoking diatriabe and threads like this make reading the forum too much work. I'll get my therapy at the Beach Bar, thank you.

Ruth, we'll see you next Friday!

Cheers, RickG

Homemade rum? How does he do that? That might be cool to try (in a scientific, non-obsessive way, of course :) )
Ron- There's molasses, brown sugar, white sugar, fermentation, water I think, running it all through a still (which he owns) and probably a few other steps you could find on the internet. :) Obviously not something I'll be doing soon.

I figured that would be the case. That sounds like too much work when I can just buy a bottle of Cruzan. :D

I'll pu that on my list of things to try someday.

Thanks to CaliforniaGirl, I just re-read a bunch of this and I'm busting out loud! Thought I'd add one more post just to bring it up for some of the newbies to see.

Sorry I somehow missed this thread before. Sorry to also say it's nit just a St John thing. You folks don't have an exclusive of how drunk to get while on vacation. I think it's a Caribbean thing. No matter which island, doesn't matter, even cruise ships!

I usually avoid posts by muckrakers, but I have to admit...reading this thread was a fun filled, rib tickling 2 hours of totally wasted time that I enjoyed very much!

As for Melanie bailing...I also bailed on this forum a couple of years ago for a different reason, and I'm sorry that I did. Melanie if your reading this, you should give it another try - I'm glad I did.

Cheers All!

Can I just say I am very impressed with all of the answers. I believe another forum I used to read would have taken Mel a little to seriously and lashed out at her. Very mature guys & girls.
I am not a drinker..does nothing for me, rather eat a brownie. I don't really think there is that much booze talk..or maybe I pass it over since I am not interested.( and hubby is in the booze business - sad isn't it?)
Welcome Mel

I only had time to read the first three pages and this last page. There are a helluvalotof posts to read. My only reaction is that Jimmy Buffett was right. “We are the people our parents warned us about.”

As long as we're not our parents, that works for me.

St. John holds a special place in our hearts. No it's not all alcohol but we drink up to a beautiful place that we love to share together. We don't have beach bars here in PA so we most definately take advantage of a good drink and perfect scenery when on vacation.

Wow...I missed this thread the last time. I have no idea how.

Some posts made me laugh and some made me sad.

I love to have some bushwackers and painkillers on vacation because I'm just too damn lazy to make them at home...so...if I get a little tipsy, I'll sleep better :D

Wow.........almost 26,000 forumites have read at least part of this post. Does anyone else find this amazing? If I couldn't drink on STJ I think I'd have to stay home. Maybe my next vacation should be to Betty Ford. Oh well, I'll be there tomorrow, with drink in hand, for 9 glorious days.
