CariBert Trip Report Day 2 Includes Food Porn

Post by CariBert »

Day 2 - Tuesday

Ahhhh, the first full day in Paradise! What to do, what to do??? Well, whilst getting on Island Time, we decided, thanks to Katilady, we would have a nice breakfast to start the day.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 7298"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJUNvtC ... t.JPG"></a>

Of course we were not the only ones demanding breakfast, the Banaquits were out in full force.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 4738"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJU2ZWx ... 2.JPG"></a>

There must have been 75 or 100 of them. The word was out...."Soft Touch at Idyllic"....no one else had birds that morning, they were all at our villa.

We decided the first order of business, for the newbie's sake, would be to go into Cruz Bay and visit the stores. So, off we went to Mongoose Junction. Turns out we had to park there every day and walk every where...there is NO Parking in Cruz Bay!!

We went to The Tap Room for our Pale Ale fix:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 7986"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJUTaRV ... 2.JPG"></a>

Ate lunch at Woody's and then walked over to the Beach Bar for drinks.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 5602"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJT0nKv ... 9.JPG"></a>
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 6002"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJUWHwj ... 4.JPG"></a>

After a full day of shopping, we went back to the villa for pool, drinks and dinner. But first, pool boy had work to do:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 7458"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJUR7vt ... 0.JPG"></a>

Next order of business was a snorkel lesson for the newbie:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 4770"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJUXBjA ... 5.JPG"></a>

Then, sit back and enjoy a rum soaked cigar and a Mojito that I made:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 1010"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJUbLnb ... 2.JPG"></a>

Ahhhh...a Mojito at sunset.....ummmm, good!
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/CaribBert/D ... 6978"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/CaribBert/SJJT6cTl ... 0.JPG"></a>

And we come to the end of another perfect day in Paradise!

End of day 2

Now I can relate to that because that reminds me of my DH but along with cigar he would be drinking a glass of good scotch and a cup of coffe. That's how he starts every morning in STJ watching the sunrise (we must have an east facting house for that reason).

Love the photos of you with the mojito, and the mojito with the sunset! Now I want a mojito and it is only 9:15 AM! Hmm...I do have the day off today... :P

Looking forward to reading more!

I don't really have a recipe. I just mix the Mojito to taste. I use Rum (white) simple syrup (make my own) limes and lime juice, mint (fresh, muddled) and club soda to top it off. It's really good and refreshing.....leave it to the Cubans to come up with a rum drink that goes well with cigars.

p.s. A Mojito is made just like a Mint Julep only with rum instead of whiskey.....

Thanks, unfortunately you lost me at making your own simple syrup....I'm not the greatest in the kitchen.

Tell you what, in honor of you guys and all my friends here on the board, I'm cracking open my bottle of pre-mixed mojitos by Bacardi and chillin' in my backyard in Chicago!

Cheers! Have a great weekend!
