2-3 night sailing trip ??

Post by Mike fron N Ga »

My wife and I have vacationed in St John a few times now and have enjoyed each time better than the last. This past spring we tried a week long sailboat trip in the BVI's and loved it too. Now to combine both. Does anyone know of a charter boat that will take our family of 4 and maybe a friend or 2 to the BVI's (maybe the Baths and Jost?) on a 2 night sailing trip and then to STJ? We want to expose our 11 and 13 year old girls to sailing the BVI's without the weeklong commitment to being on a boat. Thanks for your help

Mike, can you give a little more info? When? What is your target budget? Mono hull or sailing catamaran?

Try Forever Young. They are out of Red Hook but they will pick up in St. John. They are super nice and take care of their guests. They do less than a week (1,2,3 night) charters which is hard to find. Most want a week.

You may also want to check with Captain Joe www.sailvi.com. I know his catamaran, the Scubadu, has overnight accommodations. We have inquired about this with him and he does offer overnight trips, 2 or 3 nights, etc. We have only been on the daysails though - not long enough!

Thanks for the replies.
Puddlejumper, a monohull may be OK although we took a cat. with other couples at spring break and loved the space. I think the girls would like the no heeling of a cat. On the budget, we are not into luxury, just a good clean boat with a fun and capable captn would be good enough for us. Tenative plans are June 2009.

Ben, we live in Gainesville GA, 1 mile north of Lake Lanier.

Have all these afternoons of rain helped at all down there? Seems to make my weeds grow, but our ponds are still hurting!

We did a 3 night sailing charter in 2006. We went through Yates Yachts; they have quite a few to choose from and were great to work with.

We went from Tortola, but I think other departures can be arranged.

Check out yatesyachts.com.
