Chris Sawyer Dive Center

It looks like the Chris Sawyer Diving Center location in Red Hook closed. Their schedule shows all of their dives leaving from Caneel Bay now. Does anyone know the back story?

I don't know the back story but my hubby went out of Caneel with them in November and loved them. Maybe business got good enough on STJ for them to move over full time or busiess got bad enough that they can't maintain two locations.

I'd be interested to know as well.

I was supposed to dive with CS at the Wyndham Sugar Bay. Glad I called to reconfirm last week. I got a few conflicting stories from 2 different CS dive shops, the one in Red Hook and the one at the Wyndham. One said they were definitely closing, one said they were trying to avoid closing. Chris Sawyer did close it's doors in Red Hook on the 25th. I believe some of the current Dive Masters are trying to continue working with the resorts and take over that part of the operation. I think there is a lot of paperwork, funding and details that still have to be ironed out,but they couldnt guarantee that they would be operating this weekend as we had scheduled. In the mean time, we'll be diving with Coki Beach Dive Club and with George and Ernest at Maho. I hope they can in some way keep the shop running.
