Serving frosty beverages on the beach

NoTanLines and I are hanging with MrsB & MrB on our November trip and it looks like there will be more Stoli and Cruzan on the beach than beer. What do you do to deliver the best possible frosty beverage experience on the beach - special glasses, pitchers, pre-freezing, pre-mixing, post-mixing?

I seem to remember a thread that mentioned making some high octane slushies in a 96 oz Tropican jug? Does this work well?

I want to do a test drive in the back yard!

We threw all kinds of boozy goodness and fruitiness in a half gallon jug and froze it as solid as it would freeze (harder with good booze) lol, and took it to the beach in the cooler everyday. The recipe changed daily, but my delicious booze slushies were always there!

It also kept everything else in the cooler cold.

Someone posted a one-gallon painkiller recipe here somewhere. Hello, I'm making that happen next time!

Rick - next time you are here, I will take you to a drive through Daquiri Shop, and you can see how it's done.

Get a gallon jug and make your drink then freeze it in a gallon jug. It will be perfect for the beach.

Someone here had some sort of booze bag that you could freeze and then put in an insulated thing and take it to the beach. I'd almost forgotten about it, but that might be very handy.

So, do you freeze just your liquor portion and refrigerate the mix, or do you mix it all up?

Looking at the Cruzan flavored (without chemicals, life itself is impossible) rums it seems they are only about 24% ABV/48 proof? 25% alcohol with 75% water freezes at 13.6 degrees F. Hmm, maybe I should see if I can make Cruzan Coconut Rum ice cubes in my -10 degree F freezer?

I wonder what the freezing point is of the Knickers Off Margerita?

From a buddy that used to work at Daquiris...

Blend the drink like you would if you were gonna drink it out of the blender, pour it into a gallon jug, then freeze it.

Also, in the ice chest, pour salt over the ice to keep the ice cold longer.

Enjoy!

Cool. I wonder if we can get dry ice on St. John? Hmmm, 50% solution of ethanol freezes at -35F and dry ice has a surface temperature of -190F. This could be fun.

Why do freezers on St. John seem to be so chill challenged? Refrigerators seem to be even more challenged.

We just froze the whole thing! Depending on which flavor of rum you get, it can freeze in the freezer. I think different flavors have different alcohol contents, but I'm guessing down there it's all high octane. I know that I had a bottle of vanilla rum freeze on me here at home once.

Our drink there we used raspberry, coconut and Clipper and it never froze completely. We mixed that with pineapple, orange and one other kind of juice -- fruit punch I think. Super yum!

You are way over thinking this

Last year we brought down two Bubba Kegs. Make the drinks in the blender and dump into the keg. Keeps it cool all day and drinkable right off the bat. I also filled one of the villa's sippy cups (the large cups with the straw for easy access. You know you need that drink when going all the way to the east end

Or... we could just pass the bottle around

I gotta keep MrsB lubricated.

Our buddy Ralph, who worked a volunteer month at Maho, liked to make Rum tang. He would add Tang to a bottle of Cruzan (or Paradise) until it became opaque - RumTang! Now, that's good Tang.

Did the strawberry puree clog your straw?

Woahhhhhh there big fella.....more booze than beer??? Who are you, and what have you done with my friend Rick?!?!

Besides....frosty drinks on the beach are a dangerous thing....remember Vie's last year??? Mrs B doesn't!!!

No clogs that I can remember. We also lugged down the magic bullet BLENDER so we could mix different drinks.

Don't worry Dave I am mostly a tea totaler except for vacations and weddings. I can't speak for Rick
