I came across this one when I was researching horse tranquilizers for Jorge. I like it.

ILAMATECUHTLI (ihl-AH-mah-tehk-OOT-lee; Female): Some people think that cats are cruel animals and to prove their point they cite instances where cats will torturously play with a mouse before killing it. As any cat fancier knows, this activity is in fact a form of exercise to sharpen up the cat's stalking skills. Sure it looks cruel, but nature can be brutal. If your cat is prone to such behavior, relax. She's not being sadistic or cruel. She's just being a cat. If it's cruelty you want then you need look no further than to the wacky antics of those crazy Aztecs. Ilamatecuhtli was the Aztec mother goddess and each winter a huge festival was celebrated in her honor. The festivities included the arrest of a woman who was ceremoniously sacrificed in true Aztec fashion by tearing out her heart while she was still alive. Then her head was hacked off and impaled atop a pole that was held up high to lead the people in a horrific dance that must have been something like a conga line from hell. Everyone had a swell time, so much so that they all played a popular trick on one another that basically consisted of hiding sacks full of wool until coming upon a helpless individual whereupon they would use these sacks to beat the living hell out of their dumbfounded victim. Cats cruel? Don't believe it. But if you still detect a flash of sadism somewhere in the glow of your cats gaze, remember the goddess Ilamatecuhtli and her terrible festival.

Cheers, RickG

I've named alot of cats in my life, but the first thing I came up with was "Cruzan".

Right now my cats are Sambuca Kalua (We call him Buca) and Tiki Kana.

Paisley is a cute name :)

I volunteer at an animal shelter and fell in love with a sweet calico on Monday night...my husband won't let me bring home a sixth cat though...it's been over 3 years since I've brought a cat home from the shelter, I think I deserve it :)

I've been wondering what name you guys picked...Paisley is a cute name! I hope she is doing well and I'm sure she's sooo happy to have loving parents and a nice home :D

3 days ago a mostly gray, bit of tabby stray has appeared in our yard. He/she I believe is feral as I cannot get close to her at all. Anyway, poor thing is probably about 4-6 months old and so skinny. I've been putting dry food and fresh H2O out and already it looks better after a bit of nourishment and security. We'll see how it goes from here. Seems that after each encounter the closer it's letting me get. My Chloe is constantly in the window looking for it or out on the lanai looking. Who knows may turn out to be her new sibling since she lost her big brother in January

Enjoy,
Kathy

Paisley

I love cats and have had to come up with names all my life. I LOVE the name Paisley for this kitten! It seems like the right name for her. Hope she turns out to be that 'special one'.

PS-- my three year old grandson got his first kitten the other day. She's very petite and feminine. My son wanted a pet my grandson would be able to love on. He's been around cats and knows how to treat them-- unlike my son was! He named her "Galby" -- which seemed strange until we realized he was referring to her being a little girl. (we're from Texas where we do say 'gal' for girls sometimes) Galby fits her to a T.

You're a good guy for rescuing an animal in need.

We've had lots of cats and lots of different names - but we called them all "kitty, kitty"
