One day jeep rental

Post by mrscaptainjay »

Hey guys, do you think this time of year I would be able to get a one day jeep rental on St. John? If so who is the best to call. Four of us are coming over to St. John for the day and want to explore.

thanks,
Deb

We did that a couple of years ago when we rented a villa on Tortola and took the ferry over to STJ for the day. We just walked around to see who had a Jeep available for the day and third agency we went to had one. There are so many agencies within walking distance from the ferry dock I'd bet that at this time of the year you'll be able to find one.

I've called Conrad (booked), Courtesy and L&L (both do not do one day rental). Who else is on St. John? I may have to get one on St. Thomas and ferry it over. But I really don't want to do that. I guess we could wait until we get there and do what you said, but I usually like having the details worked out ahead of time. :D

Cool Breeze, Bougainvillea, O'Connor, Penn's, Hospitality, Spencer, C & C, Gilbert Hill, and some other's that I can remember the names of. We just walked around until we found one that had a car available for the day.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I got one at Varlack. They were very friendly. Has anyone used them?

I'm excited about our sunday big adventure.

We're renting on STT this time, but the people at Varlack were really nice when I called them.

Most are reluctant to reserve a vehicle for just one day. I guess they don't want to tie themselves down should an opportunity come up for a longer rental. But they're usually quite willing to rent a vehicle if you walk up and they have one on the lot. Get there early and just walk around to the different rental companies. In low season you have a good chance of getting one. In peak season it can be impossible. If there's someone you've rented from before, they may be more willing to reserve one for just one day.
