Sept Villa's / Restaurants Closed?
Sept Villa's / Restaurants Closed?
Hi there!
I know you haven't a clue who I am. I have been reading the forum for a long time but was too scared to post anything.
I do have a question for members that have been on island in Sept. I know that a lot of villas are closed but was told by a rental agent that just about all restaurants are too!!
We have been over 4 times but never in Sept. She said it is the time ( due to hurricane season ) that
villa and rest. owners remodel and facelift their properties. According to her, there was only 2 or 3 open last sept. for several weeks at a time!
Anyone know about this? I don't want to miss our favorite eating places...will wait till Oct., if true!
Thanks Much,
Sherry from S.C.

Hi Sherry. Glad you aren't afraid anymore!
It is true about rest. closing in the Sept. Oct. time frame but not all at the same time. Ruth of STJ Spice is kind enough to compile a list every year of the closings. You can find it on her web site here:

I wast there at the beginning of October last year, and while several restaurants are closed, there were still plenty to choose from, and we ended up doing a few meals at the villa -- not because we had to, but because we wanted to.
We didn't have any trouble with villa closings, but I guess some owners do work on them during the low season. It is also kind of late in the season to look for villas, so maybe that's part of why there are less villas available.
I love the low-season. Yeah, I can't get Vie's chicken, but there are no people at Trunk Bay!

We've been twice in September and had very little to choose from so moved our trip this year to early October. I don't mind if some are closed, but almost all seemed to be closed last year when we went. I'd recommend October for that reason (unless you plan on eating in some nights and then don't need a new restaurant every night of hte week...

all painted and revarnished on 11/3. Sorry to all that we will miss but the smell of varnish just throws off the Bushwacker enjoyment.
I was just getting ready to yell at you

Have a bushwacker waiting for me! Yummy!
