Charlie gets that too. So now I try and save time to take those days off as well. I get 28 days and next year or the year after I get 5 more and then I'm maxed out. Worked for the same company for 23 years (was 12 when I started)and was getting 6 weeks of vacation. I quit almost 2 years ago and now I only get 2 weeks of vacation plus one day per year with a max of 3 weeks. They also let me take off time without pay when ever I want to which is nice. I may not get the paid vacation I used to get but I don't have the stress I used to have either. In my opinion it's worth it.
You guys make me appreciate my time off and realize why I've been with the same organization for 8 years.
I have just shy of 5 weeks of leave to use however I want, 8 federal federal holidays (minus columbus day and veterans day), the day after Thanksgiving, and every other Friday off. Every Tuesday and alternate Fridays I telecommute. 12 days of sick leave a year.
I know I am spoiled but I work my ass off and am one of those people who worked from home while on maternity leave (at my own insistence not my boss' - much to the chagrin of a few female coworkers who were planning to have kids in the near future - they thought I set a bad example) and I check in on things over weekends and when I am off. The only time I totally disconnect is when I go to St. John. Maybe that's why I love it so much!
I am just fortunate that good people at my organization are recogized and rewarded with generous leave and schedule flexibilty. It has kept me many times from leaving.
My problem is my husband's leave. He gets 3 weeks a year. Total. Annual & sick in one bucket.
Makes planning interesting.

I get four weeks of flexible vacation per year, plus the set period of December 24-January 2. In addition, I get 10 other holidays--all the Federal ones, plus one state one (Patriots Day).
I also get 21 sick days per year. Luckily I almost never have to use it, and my guilty conscience won't let me call in sick unless I really am. I've been at my maximum sick leave accumulation for a couple of years. No "sick" beach days for me.
John gets one more week of vacation than me, but he does not get any dedicated sick time.

Linne, that means I could call my company and say I am sick and staying home from work 21 days a year. I would still be paid my salary for those days, and I would not have to use any of my vacation time. We are allowed to accrue up to 120 sick days in our banks. The main difference between sick time and vacation time is that if you leave your job, the company pays you your salary for all of the unused days you have in your vacation bank. I get 15 vacation days a year, but only because I negotiated it upon my hiring (I should only get 10). I only get 7 holidays (no Christmas Eve or New Years Eve!) and 3 sick days.
My mom is a teacher and she gets 13 sick days a year…and what she doesn’t use goes toward her retirement. She has so many sick days in the bank that she will get to retire a year early with full pay!

I get 30 PTO days a year use them for vacation, sick days whatever.I also get 12 holiday days so when ya add them in with PTO days I can take alot of vacations. Honey had about the same until she changed jobs now she has about 15 amd 10 holiday. My employer is moving to Mexico sometime in the future but they keep moving it out. Man am I going to hate starting over on vacation days. So until it happens it's vacations gone wild
