Just curious...Woody's question
Just curious...Woody's question
back in the day, Woody's let patrons pour their own drinks. So you could make it as strong as you want. It was something that made them unique. I'm not sure if they have sophisticated things over the years or not. I'm sure someone on this board can tell me if they still do this.
It's been a long time. If I remember correctly, Woody's actually opened while I was living there or shortly before. Does anyone know what year they were established?
A little STJ trivia.....

A little OT...
But Gertrude's on Jost was still pour your own when I was there two years ago.
I like to play a little game I invented called "Get Gertrude to Smile". If you know Gertrude then you know this is not an easy game to play. However, if you "win" and it is not particularly busy, she will usually leave the rum bottle on the bar so you can "top off" your painkiller when it gets low.

Kevin,
Funny that you mention Gertrude. We stopped in there last week while on Jost and I had one of the "Pinky's Passion" drinks. She grabbed the 5 or 6 bottles involved and started pouring. It was a tasty drink and my buddy decided he wanted one too.
Buddy: "I hate to do this ma'am, but I would like one of those Pinky's Passions too."
Gertrude: "here, you pour it"
Buddy: "I dont know how"
Gertrude: "Well you should have watched" ...grabbed her roti and walked away.
Me to buddy: "Quit being a "girl" and give me the bottles!"
I "think" I saw a little smirked from Gertrude then. My concoction actually came out pretty close to hers. It tastes a fair bit like red kool-aid.
It looked like making her smile could be a challenge. I do love all of those little hole in the wall bars on Jost though. Each one has its own little character.
