Devers Bay

Post by ihochman »

Was wondering if anyone has stayed at Island Time at
Devers Bay?? Actually, has anyone stayed anywhere on Devers Bay?? We'll be there in Feb and have never been
there. Would love whatever feedback I can get. I wrote about Hawksbill but no one responded. Starting to take it personally... kidding, but would love to hear from someone, anyone who knows the area. Thanks

We just got back from a week staying at Dream Come True which is located on Devers Bay. Devers Bay is beautiful. The beach is rocky but you can go snorkling which we did and loved it. People staying at the house next to ours were out there all day snorkling and swimming around. The view was beautiful from our house and I am pretty sure Island Time was two down from us so it would have the same view. Although the houses ( I think there are 4 houses)are fairly close together they were all very private I couldn't see or hear either of the neighbors unless they were down on the beach. We would definitely stay on Devers bay again.

I also stayed at Dream Come True in 2007. Island Time is very close to Dream Come True, but you will not have access to Devers Bay. If you want to be able to enjoy the snorkeling on Devers Bay you will have to stay at one of the few villas that have private access to the rocky beach below. I thought the snorkeling was very good at Devers Bay.

Oh wow...this post has perked my interest in Devers Bay!!! Looked at Dream Come True, Sunset and Vida De Mar. All looked nice, esp Dream. I read that you can swim and snorkel off of Devers, even tho it is rocky. Could one launch a kayak from the beach? Can anybody add anything to the 3 villas there? anyone else stay there recently?

When we were there last year someone did have a kayak beached at their villa, so you can kayak there. If you want to see some pictures of Dream Come True you can see them from our 2007 St. John album. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jim_m/sets ... 323646129/ . I also have a short video of the view from Dream Come True posted there.

We stayed at Sunset Beach in 2002 and 2003. It was a great spot, but once Dream Come True was built their was much less privacy. Devers Bay is great. We enjoy the open water snorkel between Devers and Chocolate Hole. Its a great neighborhood with very good light. The road above Island Time has sunrise and sunset views and Dolphin Run is a cross the street.

This neighborhood has two great snorkel spots that are walkable - Hart Bay and Devers Bay. Hart Bay is to be avoided when the surf is up. Devers Bay is quite sheltered.

I just stayed at Dream Come True in April. My husband snorkeled and I swam in the bay. We waited until it was calm. Loved the beach, although I did get some bug bites at night.
The house was wonderful and loved the area.
We are thinking about renting Vida De Mar when we return if the whole family goes with us.

Yep, Devers Bay has some dawn and dusk visitors - noseeums. Island Time should have stronger breezes being right below the crest of the hill.

Here's a shot of the area before Dream Come True was built (2001): Image

So can you get to Devers from Island Time or Dolphin Run? How would you get to Hart Bay? where to park? and pathway.

If you are just visiting the area there is some room to park along Bovacoap Road just past Dolphin Run. Here are directions: http://www.seestjohn.com/beaches_hart.html

Getting to Devers Bay I have only done swimming from Chocolate Hole or while staying at a villa there. Vida da Mer and Sunset Beach share a driveway. It would be worth taking a look to see what the access options are. There used to be a path where Dream Come True was built. I would probably ask the villa management company for Island Time about Devers Bay. I mean, you can certainly throw a rock in the water from the deck.

We stayed at Dream Come True three years ago. I highly recommend the location and the snorkeling. The swim from Devers Bay going around to Chocolate Hole was great.
