New AA flights arrive too late for STJ

Post by Pia »

Hi everyone

Just a "heads up" - I was checking flights on AA for December and found out the flight I was looking at taking back to STT now leaves at 7:20pm - it was a 4:30pm departure from MIA, then moved to 5:30pm (current time) and is now 7:30pm arriving at 11:00pm !! soooooo unless you want to take a chance on making the last ferry at midnight - no way if you have checked luggage and iffy with carry on as well as we all know we need a full taxi to leave - the connecting flights in MIA now do not work for those visiting STJ unless you add the first night in STT (not a bad thing though, but I know many like to get to their villa on travel day) There still is a noon(ish) departure from Mia but alot of connecting flights (in my travel cities at least) don't arrive in MIA early enough to make it.

I would suggest if you are on that 5:30pm departure in MIA I would double check the departure time as I don't know when it goes into effect as I was only checking my Dec flight.

Thanks Pia...our whole family is booked on the 5:30 MIA-STT flight next March....looks like we may be getting in at 11:00 P.M. instead of 8:00 P.M. Makes for a hellish travel day. We were thinking about booking the first night in STT anyway.

Pia and Iowa...Nothing is written in stone with the airlines as far as schedule changes go anymore. They'll probably be changing that Miami flight again soon no doubt. Hope they just keep changing them and don't continue dropping them...although AA did just announce another big run of layoffs in the thousands coming soon. Obviously they are cutting back on what they have out there for inventory so what they continue to sell will generate higher revenue.

Yikes, I am glad I got my tickets changed. I was booked on that 4:30 MIA w/scheduled arrival in STT at 8:00 p.m. w/FF tickets. When it changed to a 5:30 departure I called AA and they most graciously changed my flight to the flight that gets me to STT at 3:35.

editing to say our flights are in early december

That is the biggest reason that I am paying extra to not fly American. Yeah, it's a lot cheaper, but not once you add a night on STT, which you would have to do. Actually, they wanted me to take a ridiculously early flight back, so I would've had to have spent a lot of time on STT for that itinerary.

It's going to be worth it to drive to ATL and fly direct to STT.

I could understand them cutting flights if there weren't enough passengers to fill the plane, but every time we've gone, no matter if it's early or late, the planes have been full. So, for the people here that have gone lately, have the planes been fully loaded on your flights?
