Villa review - Calypso DelSol
I know there are several people here who were waiting for a villa review for this villa, so here goes:
First off, I'm not going to post pics because the ones that are on the rental agencies website as well as the owners are very accurate except that the great room is not as big as it appears in the pictures, but still very adequate for a group of six.
The kitchen is fairly nicely equipped, but for some reason there is no electric can opener and no mixer that I could find. We were also beseiged with tiny little ants in the kitchen area, but that can happen anywhere and I'm sure is not a constant problem. The dining table seats six comfortably. The living area also seats six comfortably. There are several books about the island there for you to read and use during your stay including Feet, Fins and 4WD. The AC unit in the living area worked very well and was a wonderful treat as we had never stayed in a villa with full AC. The main level bedroom is very spacious and the bed is comfy! The shower is very spacious and the water pressure was good.
The laundry room was great and well furnished. Plenty of washing detergent and extra sheets for the beds if you needed them. The safe is located there as well.
The two lower level bedrooms were very equal except for one problem which I plan to email the owners about in case they don't know. The lime green bedroom has a mosquito problem that seems to be coming from the cistern that is located under that room. The access for it is in the closet and that seemed to be where they were coming from. That bedroom also had a little bit of a musty smell.
The screen porch is a nice feature however it doesn't get much of a breeze, therefore we only used it early in the morning.
The pool is a great size as all six of us were able to float in our own area without running into one another. There are several floats, a couple of beach balls and the beach chairs were wonderul...so wonderful that we are ordering some for ourselves!
There are several coolers and some snorkel fins there as well (one set size 7-9 and one set size 3-5) but no masks. We never used the hot tub but it looked to be in great shape.
There is a lot of flora and fauna (iguanas) that we very much enjoyed and the circular drive is great. The road to the villa (Chocolate Hole East Road) is fully paved with concrete. We did have to pass the Pond Bay villa development on the way to the villa but it is not visible and we never heard any noise from it even though they were working.
All in all, we would stay there again in a heartbeat if the mosquito problem gets fixed.
Any questions, feel free to PM me.
