? From the Bug Magnet
Since we've had all the rain in the midwest, I'm hoping it has been avoiding the islands for our upcoming trip in two weeks (YIPPEE!).
The mosquitoes and noseeums just love my blood, so I was wondering what the latest situation is? I already have my benedryl and the highest level of DEET known to man. Those natural bug repellents do nothing for me.....
Lots of tourists walking around with red dots lately or not so bad?
I'm still coming no matter what!
Thanks -
Tracy

We have had very little rain for months - a few passing showers that really do not do much for our cisterns and the water trucks seem like they are outnumbering the cars on the East End of STT - this weekend we are supposed to have a passing tropical wave but the satellite has it getting slowly eroded by shear and passing S of Puerto Rico - see weathercarib.com - I would say there are 110,000 Virgin Islanders praying for rain to come soon. There has been little chance for any mosquito breeding of late, to answer your question. Am glad you are coming anyway - it is the VI after all!

The sublingual B12 is also great for hangovers!irmermaid wrote:Fellow cheesehead--we were there 3 weeks ago (sigh). I am also a bug magnet-yes at dusk there were some no-seeums. Last year park ranger Pat suggested loading up on vitamin B12. I found a mouth spray at CVS and used some several times a day--I think it helped. Have fun.

Hi Tracy!
Just a side note on the Deet....be careful with it! I am a bug magnet and took Deet spray along on the last trip.
It turned my polish (finger & toe) into mush, it turned the finish on the tile floor into a sticky goo, and dried my skin so bad that I peeled without sunburn. That stuff is nasty
But on the flip side, I hardly got bit at all
XOXO

They seem to be breeding just fine around breakfast time at the Donkey Diner! They have zappers there on the table. Use them! Good Godfrey, my legs were eaten alive in about 10 minutes!!! But I did notice they were not near as bad at the villa as last trip!Exit Zero wrote:There has been little chance for any mosquito breeding of late.
