New TSA Scanners can see your private parts...OH NO!
New TSA Scanners can see your private parts...OH NO!
As if we travelers don't have enough to worry about...Now we have to wonder if our private parts might end up on You Tube:

I appreciate the fact that this increased security can possibly detect plastic guns and knives, etc., but I do think it's an invasion of privacy to some extent. I don't have another answer to the security question that's any better, though.
Hell, if some horny TSA guy is desperate enough to get off on an xray image of me, then more power to him. Maybe I'll even consider it a compliment!

umm..i'm cool w/that...as long as it works to keep people from messing w/us on the plane. I mean the people watching the monitors are gonna see these for about 5 seconds according to TSA which is hardly enough time to "do anything" other than be looking for weapons which is there job! I'm for it...fox is always so affraid of new technology...lol

Yeah, but the "hot girl" would be able to tell he was stuffing his pants...that'd be even worse!
Personally I’d rather be patted down than have a naked picture taken. When they pat you down at least you get someone of the same sex, but with the new scanners it isn't that way. Icky.

I'm of the opinion of "Do whatever you want. Just do it consistently, accurately and quickly"
Want me to strut naked through the scanner? Fine. I'll buy rip away clothes and do it.
Walk on my hands? OK...give me a few weeks to learn that.
No shoes? That's why my work shoes are slip ons.
Just make it consistent! And taser every person who can not comply and insists on trying to wear boots that lace up to one's "up there" as they go through the scanner.
As you can see, I travel a lot.

This is truely becoming rediculous. They make us jump through hoops and make it very difficult and uncomfortable to travel (piled on top of the increased pricing), and call it in the name of security. And the people (too many of them) say, well, O.K. if it makes us safer. Guess what...it doesn't. As long as the public puts up with the indignities and hoop jumping, they are going to make us do it.
There are other ways to search people without them having to "bare" all. I guess bottom line is....yeah, they won...we lost......it's gonna be a long, long time before we, the public, will be able to travel "freely" anywhere.

The liver is evil, it must be punished!

I know it's just your honest opinion...but, if you watched the story, it's not like you are getting naked...if you google it you can see the images that it takes...it's not like a color photo of you...it's blue and your face is barely distinguishable...it is just to highlight objects that are not of the body i.e. plastic knives/explosives/guns that the metal detector does not pick up. They don't save the pictures, in fact it stays on the monitor's screen for only 5 seconds. Also the person viewing you in your birthday suit is in a remote location so you don't have worry about getting "that look" from the person working the machine. The person working at the new detector will never see your image, and is there only to guide you through the detector process.CariBert wrote:This is truely becoming rediculous. IMHO I WOULD RATHER HAVE THIS MACHINE WITH SOME PERSON IN ANOTHER ROOM LOOKING AT ME NAKED THAN SOME DUDE PATTING DOWN MY CROTCH AND TOUCHING MY BODY MAKING ME FEEL LIKE A CRIMINAL...I'm sure once you get past the OH MY GOD moment you will realize that this is far less intrusive than the current process and will speed things up tremendously.
