Question about airfare from the Midwest
We are flying out of STL on Nov 22, and ended up paying $830 per person. We knew we were going to have to pay more because it is Thanksgiving week, but our choice also had more to do with the flight schedule than anything else. We are going down for our daughter's wedding that week, and we have to transport a wedding gown and all that stuff. We wanted no more than 1 stop, very short (if any) layover, and to arrive on STT mid-afternoon so that we could meet with the planner that evening. If we could have been more flexible about stops, layovers, and arrival time, we could have gotten fares around $600. Booked about 4 weeks ago.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. On my trips in 2005, 2006, and 2007 I flew out on Thanksgiving Day which was rather quiet. That might explain why I got such a better deal those years. I like to book my accommodations first and worry about airfare later, I know some people prefer the opposite but I was very specific about what dates I wanted this year.
Hi Gromit, reading about your airfare story really got me thinking about my ticket. I should just buy now, what's the worst that could happen, the price goes up?
