Awesome! I've finally cracked to code that is "posting photos"!!! Weeeeeee!

The previous picture is my little girl- Monkey (all four lbs of her). Below is another one of Monkey plus a few of the cat- Mugsy- and one of the rotti- Dallas.

I cannot post a photo of my westie- Peanut- just yet as she is supposed to be white but is currently (over) due for a bath and is "not-white".

Heehee- I love to show off my animals! And, yes, that is the kitchen floor that I live with (yellow and orange and green oh my!).

So many cute pets out there - Here is mine. His name is George and we saw him in a pet store window 14 years ago. I couldn't resist him! He is now much slower and totally deaf, but out of all my boys(hubby & 2 sons), he still listens the best! We also have a frog named Gloria and a new fish named Jumbie.

Lysa - Mugsy looks exactly like a Mugsy! What a face! And your kitchen floor? It just looks Caribbean! Now you need to paint your baseboards turquoise!

Thanks for the pet compliments- they are all worthy! "Mugsy" actually got that name becasue of his face- all cheeks!

OMG- I think my husband would have a sensory overload heart attack if I painted the kitchen baseboards blue :D !

I actually don't mind the kitchen floor (it's in really good condition considering it's age) but most are shocked and awed by it.

When my MIL saw it after we bought the house I saw her eyes actually pop-out of her head just a little bit and her throat even closed up for a second.

Deep down inside, where Evil Lysa lives, that's the reason why I haven;t updated the kitchen floor  !

Tracy seeing the photo of George brings a smile to my face. We had our sweet Daisy 14 years til we finally had to help her get to the rainbow bridge a couple years ago. George is deaf, Daisy was blind... ah cockers have their problems! As Daisy aged she coped quite well as she descended into total blindness, until the end when she seemed to forget everything she ever knew about how to navigate, etc. Good luck w/ George in his senior years, he looks good! He wears his age well.

oh..LYSA.....I happen to have CORAL kitchen counters....wow...what a color shock they would be w/ your floor! I patiently wait for the day they will be replaced, in the meantime I prefer a trip to STJ anytime over new counters. Some day!

I'm a little slow to responding to this one. These are our two Ragdoll kittens when we first got them last fall. Gimli and Oskar. Two of them are three times the fun of one!

Hi everybody.

I thought I’d post about this here because I’ve already shared so much about my precious kitties.

When I took our 3 youngest cats in for their annual check-ups in April I had some basic blood work done as a precaution; I didn’t suspect that anything was wrong and just wanted to make sure they were healthy cats.

Jasper’s results came back abnormal; his total white blood cell count was fine, but he should have high neutrophils and low lymphocytes but he has the opposite: low neutrophils and high lymphocytes.

The vet thought he might have just been fighting something off so he had me repeat the blood work 2 months later.

I just talked to the vet this morning and the results were the same the second time. They were actually slightly worse…his neutrophils were a little lower and his lymphocytes a little higher. And this time some of his lymphocytes were reactive.

Jasper has been a little low-key lately…not quite his usual rambunctious self…he’s still active, but not completely himself.

The vet referred us to an internist in his office so I’m taking him in next week. The appointment is the day before we leave for STJ. We have 3 rotations of people coming to the house while we’re gone to watch after the cats, but none of them have lived with Jasper and know him well enough to notice subtle changes in his behavior.

I am completely sick to my stomach over this. The vet mentioned that one of the causes of this type of white blood cell issue is cancer. And when I google “high lymphocytes” and “low neutrophils” I get back a bunch of stuff about leukemia. The vet also said that one of the next steps that the internist might take would be a bone marrow sample.

I am terrified for my sweet boy and now I’m dreading our vacation because I don’t want to leave him.

Teresa, I am sooooo sorry to hear that news :( . I hope everything works out okay. After having our cat pass away while we were gone, I will never feel the same about leaving our furry kids again. We will definitely be finding a more responsible cat sitter since she "sat" on the situation for a couple of days and she knows better :x . Some needless suffering could have been prevented. Wishing you the best.

Thanks Brenda, I appreciate your kindness.

It must have been devastating to lose your kitty without getting to say goodbye. I didn't catch it, did you say how old she was?

My mom, God bless her, who lives over two hours away has volunteered to make the drive and stay at our house the two weekends we'll be gone, and I have someone else for the time in between. Originally my mom was only going to come the first weekend but now that this is going on with Jasper she's going to come twice...the person I had planned on having come the second weekend wouldn't really know what to look for regarding Jasper's health so my mom is coming instead. I'll owe her a big gift certificate to her favorite store!

Teresa, She was an old lady of eighteen. She had a nice long life. She just wasn't obviously sick when we left.

Thanks canucknyc.

I took Jasper to see the internist today...no news yet. He did an ultrasound because Jasper's liver enzymes were elevated (our regular vet hadn't mentioned that). We have to be at the airport tomorrow at 4 am, and I'm hoping to talk to the vet about the ultrasound results between my connecting flights.

I hate so much that I'm leaving him.
