Villa rentals starting mid week

Post by sea-nile »

Well, only a year and I go on my mother/daughter trip to STJ! It is time to start planning. We are thinking of going on a Wed to a Wed or Thursday because of our schedules and possibly a lower airfare. Are villa companies nice about doing this or do they prefer Sat. to Sat.?
Also, we need to find the least expensive place to stay other than camping. It may not be a villa but a motel/bed and breakfast or ? a shack??
Any ideas?
We plan to go in June.
It will just be the two of us.
Thanks.

I've never had a problem with mid-week rentals during the off-season. For cheap, Hillcrest Guest House, Samuels Cottages, Coconut Coast and Concordia seem the be the best deals.

Mother daughter sounds like fun...perhaps a package though a travel agent...maybe you'll catch some deal at the Westin or at Gallows or maybe even Caneel that is possible in the off season. Worth a try.

I've never had a problem with a mid-week rental, at least not in the off season.

If you and/or your daughter don't mind sharing a bed, I highly recommend Blue Aweigh...there is a king size bed, washer/dryer, nice family room, good a/c, nice kitchen (including a dishwasher), nice bathroom w/double sinks, grill, pool, and hot tub.

The only thing that makes it more conducive for a couple than a mother/daughter is that there isn't a ton of privacy when you're in the shower because it's a bit open (unless the bathroom doors are shut of course, then there is total privacy).

And the price is good…right now the website is saying $195 per night but we got a discount for staying more than 5 nights I think it was.

It is marketed by the people at Lavender Hill Suites but has nothing to do with that property…it is a guest house adjacent to a couple who have lived on the island for 20 or 30 years.

On, and the best bonus is an excellent resident cat!

Sailview looks like a nice little place that rents by the night with a two night minimum. Pia has posted that it's very clean and in good condition. A mother/daughter trip sounds like fun! I'm looking forward to mine getting older and doing things like that. Right now, about the only place she wants to be seen with me is the mall.

How about this one. http://windspree.com/homes/thecrowsnest/ It's across the street from Skinny's in Coral Bay. Can't beat the location and the price is right too.

I prefer midweek travel to week-end travel and have never had a problem renting in any time frame I want from the rental co's ever. Especially if you stay more than a week.

Of course with all the airline schedule silliness going on out there it may get harder to travel mid week in future (but I hope not!)

Sea-nile, we stayed here last year and liked it. It was good value for money. $ 840-1000.

I pm'ed you about one property but there is another I forgot to mention. It's Samuel's cottages. Both of these properties are walkable to Cruz Bay and inexpensive. I did receive your pm.
