Where to find cheap local produce and booze?
We've been out there several times since people have posted with the recommendation.
To get there, take Centerline Rd/Rt 10 until you get to the major intersection of Coral Bay (there are all those signs for skinny's, sweet plantains, etc. there). Take a right. Go just past a yellow gas station on your right-hand side, and turn right at the fork. You will see Love City Mini Mart ahead of you, and drive past it. Go down that road for a couple of minutes and you will see the Coral Bay Garden Center on your left.

Sherban,
If you'd like to put a pin on it, it's the large light colored roof on the left, just before the "Y" at the end of the straight. If you'd also like to add Love City Mini Mart, it's the first roof on the right at the beginning of the straight-away.
As a local, I'm not much use on the rental villas, but I could help you fill in just about anything else on your map...

If I'm not mistaken, you can get Josephine's' greens and such at Pine Peace market as well as cheap booze. That may be an alternative to going all the way out to Coral Bay (but that's relative, no?) We got arugula, spinach, watercress, and lettuce, as well as lemons, papaya, and mango there last year, all local...pretty reasonably too! They also had a huge melon-like thing that they would take a schunk off of for you.
Rick- This is my first trip, all the mapping insanity is so I know where stuff is when I get there...that's the plan anyway.RickG wrote:Sherban, you obsessing is awesome. Have you even been on-island yet? You'll be giving locals directions with audio visual aids!
We're staying in Catherineberg so Josephine's will be pretty handy when we are headed into Coral bay...
Thanks Ya'll

What did we do before Google Maps? I remember my first trip down 13 years ago, I grabbed that little freebie cartoon map (which I LOVE) and used it to get around -- did pretty good too! They get you where you need to be for the first few visits.
It's when you are on your 6th + trip that folks usually want to get into the more local oriented spots on island and dig deep on trails etc.
The first trip, I remember being completely enamoured of how gorgeous the water was!! I was like a kid in a candy store and just wandered around aimlessly (that could have been the magic brownie kicking in though!) and thank god I had my life long friend (and resident of STT) to show me around. Otherwise I might never have made it off of hawksnest beach!!
FUN FUN FUN!!
