Customs fee in Jost van Dyke

Post by Jimm »

If one takes the ferry to Jost do you have to pay the customs fee that all the private charters charge you? I'm seeing customs fees ranging from $20 - $25 per person with the private charters, so I was a little puzzled as to why it's not a set standard fee.

If I remember correctly the fee is included in the cost of the ferry ticket.

Jimm,
We just did the ferry to Jost in May & the fee was included on our Ferry fee. Now the Ferry fee was going up in June to I beleive $60.00 a person.

There's a different fee schedule for ferries and private boats. The fee also varies by day, with Sundays and holidays being higher. What I've been told is that private boats are $20 pp M-Sat and $25 Sun and holidays.

The math on this is worse than tax code. Rick' numbers are good enough. There is actually a fee per boat, a cruising fee per day and a per person fee. The fees can
be higher on weekends and holidays.

Now there is a fee at the US customs dock imposed by the VI Port Authority.
