NOT A HAPPY CAMPER

Post by greyhoundmom »

 Came home today and see that Spirit has put me on another flight at my connector sight in Ft. Lauderdale. Hubby and I booked flights April 1st. Why would they bump me to another flight? Everytime I try to call Spirit, I get a busy signal. Same arrival time, just different plane. It would have been nice to sit with hubby and in-laws. Why me? Boo hoo...so not happy. Has this happened to anyone else????

We've had our flights changed on a pretty regular basis, but never to just one member of our family. I would NOT be happy and I would definitely keep trying to call. Maybe you can go on line and find a different phone number?? Good luck.

I've been holding for 20+ minutes. I plan to give them a big sob story about how his this our honeymoon trip (we just celebrated our 36th!). I'm being bad, but damn, this just sucks. If worse comes to worse, both planes arrive at 3:10 (supposedly). I guess when you book no frills air, this is what you get. We saved $196 per ticket booking Spirit vs. our usual USAir direct flight from CLT. Guess there's a price to pay for cheaper air??? Wish me luck on my big "boo Hoo!"

After holding for almost an hour, I now have flights for all four of us on the new connector flight. I'm exhausted.....

I would be a beyond belistic (sorry I'm sure it's not spelled correctly) camper...that is completely unacceptable...the airline needs to fix it...if they can't put you on the families flight...they need to put the family on your flight...I would demand to talk to the Supervisors Supervisor! Good LUCK!

Good for you Greyhoundmom, I'm glad it worked out. I'm paranoid enough about flying without having my family on two different planes!

GHM - I'm glad you got it straightened out. I've read some horror stories about Spirit on "other" forums. Seems they all have the same theme. When you have a problem or question, you can't reach a real person anywhere. Apparently, Spirit isn't too concerned with customer relations. Can't beat their prices, though.

I see I posted one minute after you did last night...Glad you got it taken care of. It's a nightmare now to get and keep decent air reservations.

I also had a run in with Spirit yesterday. It is best to call them late at night and you will still be on hold for 20 minutes but that is better than a busy signal. They changed my departure from FLL to STT & now my connecting flight from TPA to STT will not work. Spirit will not help me because the flights were not booked together so now I am going to eat those tickets. Just an FYI, Spirit is not flying to STT except on Saturdays at a premium rate after 9/2. Getting to the rock is going to be alot harder soon.

I was on the phone with American for 30 minutes this morning getting my flights changed. We are leaving on July 8th & they had changed me to the 7th going to New York & then St. Thomas (we are suppose to fly to Miami from DFW). Then they had me returning on the 8th!! Hopefully, I am back on the flight with hubby.

Now that we're all four on the same connecting flight from FLL to STT (mine was the one they changed), I noticed this a.m. that we no longer have the assigned seats that we selected on the departing leg of trip. It now says n/a next to each flight. I went on line and chose seats at $10.00 each for a total of $80.00. This way I won't have to stress over whether we get to sit together or not. It wouldn't be the end of the world but is nicer sitting next to your S/O. My cheaper flight is becoming not so cheap!!!! Thanks everyone for listening to my rant and for sharing your stories :|

That's pretty crappy of them to make this RETROACTIVE!! I mean you booked those seats originally -- it was THEY who changed the flights and bumped you from your seats. Just the consumer in me getting fired up.

It's one thing to set these "extras" moving forward, but IMHO entirely another for them to cancel your flight and then expect you to pay extra on top of what your original contract (ie ticket) guaranteed.

I will NEVER fly Spirit-- I don't care HOW cheap they are. My guess is they are not long for this world...

*end rant*

Gromit...lots of airlines are in dire times and I've a sneaking feeling that we'll be seeing even fewer making it into 2009. The days of sitting back and waiting for cheap air and snagging an excellent schedule are in the past. Oh, and they will be missed!!!
