Online Purveyor for Snorkel Gear

Post by Puddlejumper »

I am looking for some help and experience from those of you that have purchased fins and snorkel masks online. Hopefully they would ship by USPS, but not absolutely necessary. Who would you recommend?

I haven't purchased snorkel stuff online, but a lot of people here on the forum recommend these two places:

Joe Diver: http://www.joediveramerica.com/

Snorkel Mart: http://www.snorkel-mart.com/

Obviously I saved this info for future purchase :D

I bought the fins we used this trip from amazon.com. They were us divers and worked just fine.

I'd be reluctant to buy a mask online...I think it is a good idea to try it on first. Since you are on St. John, what about stopping by Crabbys? I picked up an extra mask there this past trip and it worked great. Cost was $55. There are some nice masks at the dive shop at Caneel too. I can't remember what I paid for the one I got there last year.

Or are you looking for a prescription mask?

I tried a mask on at a shop and then bought it at Diver's Direct.

And for another company:

www.leisurepro.com

I used them. They take paypal and shipping was super fast. I was only one state away from them though.

Here's their VI shipping policy:
American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands:
UPS Worldwide Express (3-4 business days**)
US Air Mail (1-2 Weeks*) Maximum Order Value $500

Thanks guys and gals for all the info. I will sort through, or shop through all the sites and decide which is best. I bought my personal set from Cruz Bay Watersports in the Lumberyard. I was hoping to find a set for less online for a friend. With your help it looks like I can save some dough.

We've used Snorkelmart.com for the past 2 years and have been pleased with their snorkels and masks. We bought the short U.S. Divers fins from National Geographic to take this summer. Light and small, easy for shipping to Connections. Probably not as fast in the water as longer fins but we're going to try them.
