What BVI spots to hit?

Post by pjayer »

We've scheduled our third off-island trip to the BVIs with Palm Tree Charters next month and would like some suggestions for different places to visit. Our first two trips included stops at Waterlemon, Smugglers Cove, the Caves, the Indians, Foxy's Taboo, and White Bay.

We're looking for good snorkeling, good eating, and good beaches. What are some of your favorite stops? Thanks in advance! :)

I always love a stop at either Sandy Spit or Sandy Key - beautiful beaches and very cool that you can walk around the island in 5 minutes :) Swim your cooler to shore - it's fun!

My crew loved the Lobster Salad from Sydney Peace and Love. I had the burger - didn't love it as much but did love the 'serve yourself' bar.

Have a great trip!

Pjayer,

We mixed it up this year and went to Saba Rock in Virgin Gorda on our boat day. Had one of the best lunches we've ever had down there. A little on the expensive side ($300 for 7 people), but very enjoyable, and the views can't be beat! It's a bit of a boat ride, but if the weather is nice, it's worth it!

Well, Captain John knows all the spots, so we just ask him where we should go based on conditions. I haven't been to Sydney's in a long time, but Nancy_B's TR had me thinking along those lines. Cooper Island and Peter Island are two great lunch/beach stops closer than VG. I've heard very good things about the food at Cooper Island. Another fun option is the wreck of the Rhone at Salt Island.

There's a lot of choices, but it depends on conditions, how much time you want to spend driving the boat and how much gas you want to buy.

To be honest, we bliss out and let Capt. John do his thing.

Cheers, RickG

It's a restaurant on Jost Van Dyke in Little Harbor. Well known for it's lobster salad and serve yourself bar.

Cooper Island has a snorkel, lunch and beach and shop combo attraction and as a stop it is good for a group that has varied interests.
The little cottages there that they rent may lure you back for a longer vacation though. I have spent a few long weekends there.

Cooper Island is great in terms of a laid back atmosphere and GREAT food. We are among those who stopped there for lunch and went back to stay the following year! Going again in 2009 for 10 days too....ahhhhh....paradise!

Sandy Cay is always a favorite---fulfills your deserted island fantasy (although there are generally quite a few sailboats offshore. The Willie T is in a pretty cove and the food is better than you might expect. Have stopped at Cooper Island which has a good roti for lunch. Cool spot----beach is not just great though. Peter Island has an absolutely gorgeous beach----Deadman's Beach---and they serve an excellent lunch at the beach bar--but this has an upscale resort atmosphere as opposed to the rough and tumble beachside spots such as Foxy's, Sydney's, Taboo or Willie T---just depends what you want. I've always wanted to stop at Marina Cay and Saba Rock, but we've never made it to either.
