Does Anyone Know What's Going On With American Airlines ????
Are they negotiating with the American Eagle Operator that flights their routes out of STT?? It looks like they are using Cape Air to route their passengers and not the American Eagle flights which were operated by some other operator (I don't remember the name of the company). This is a HUGE problem for all of us who fly American. Can anyone shed some light one what's going on????

I know. It will also affect everyone else, because flight prices will go up on all airlines with the reduced capacity. Add AA's recent cuts to Spirit's recent cuts, and it's going to get mighty expensive to visit the Caribbean. If you want more info, here's a link to the story that appeared in a VI newspaper:

Posted this in the other AA thread as well. I did some further checking. It appears only American mainline is dropping service from San Juan to St. Thomas after September 3, which I believe is only one flight per day.
American Eagle will still maintain SJU-STT flights with their turboprop aircraft, but Sept schedule shows 3 flights per day (all Amercian Eagle) down from 8 per day (7 American Eagle + 1 American mainline)
Sorry for the confusion.

I booked too...
We are heading to the BVI's in March 09 and I couldn't stand the thought of how much MORE flight prices could go up - they went down about fifty bucks last Saturday and I bought them - flying Continental ROC to Newark then Newark to San Juan then Cape Air into Beef Island - Roc to San Juan was cheap (380pp) the last leg was a lot - but heck you only live once!!! I couldn't even remotely think about flying into STT - flights were running 800+ pp and what I think is nowhere to go but up!! When AA started reducing their flight schedule, news articles started popping up about the problems getting to the caribbean and gas reaching four bucks (and climbing!) I decided to bite the bullet and book the tix. Repeat after me..... it's only money, it's only money, it's only money.......painkiller please, painkiller please, painkiller pleeeeaaassseeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This forum is invaluable!!! I had been looking about three days ago for flights and decided to wait. Same flights are now over 800 per person. They were about 475. Bleepy Bleeping Bleep
I did manage to find something on Priceline in the 600's. Whew. Thank you forum
If the price goes over $1000 we might as well get together and charter a private jet

When will I see St John again?
