2 Bedroom Villa under $2000 for August needed

Post by Armchair Traveler »

Hi All,

We took our first trip to St. John in January and it is safe to say we were completely hooked. I have been planning a trip back ever since. There is a possibility we may be able to go back at the end of August with another couple but would like to keep it closer to the budget side then not. Ideally we would have a 2 bedroom villa, equal size beds, etc. and a at least a small pool because its August. When we stayed last time we were in the Coral Bay area and love, love, loved it, but we are open to other areas. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Last week of August is available at this villa for $2100 - I'd jump on it. $100 over budget isn't bad... and you get 2 separate villas! One of the first floor and one on the second floor! :D

How about this one - just above Skinny's, paved road, new, clean and a great price (and available) :)

We liked Coconuts villa on Gifft Hill a lot when we stayed there in 2006. There are 2 bedrooms right next to each other that have their own baths. They are close to the same size. The site says its 3 BR - the 3rd BR is a loft, up some very steep stairs and no A/C.
Villa has a nice yard, full of bougainvillea, a small pool, and nice screened in living room. The thing we enjoyed most was the shaded gazebo with comfy furniture for hanging out, plus an eating area. You get such nice views over to STT, plus lots of birds coming to feed.
We liked the location because it was very close to Cruz Bay, and not far from Centerline which takes us to the beaches we enjoy.

I believe there is a 5% service fee, so it pushes it over your $2000.

We stayed at Hawksbill a couple years ago with another couple. The master bedrooms/bathrooms are pretty much equal. I wouldn’t call it a luxury villa but it’s decent.

See: http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/hawk/hawk1.html

It is $2016 a week for four people, but with the 5% fee Caribbean Villas charges it’d be $2117 (for comparison purposes).

It's near Cruz Bay less than 5 minutes further from town than the Westin.

I was just going through this exercise until our group size increased to 6. A pool wasn't a necessity for us (being closer to Cruz Bay was), but I found the following:

La Barracuda (pool and hot tub): $1980/week
Beit Hawa (hot tub, no pool): $2200/week
Grandview (no pool or hot tub): $1650/week
Sundance (pool and hot tub, good reviews): $2044/week
San Costanzo: $1950/week (hot tub, no pool)

Hope this helps.

Luna Vista is 1450. for 4 in off season and it is a new villa. It has just one bathroom, but it does have a small pool and the beds are both king. It is at a high elevation, so it will not be as hot in August as a west side villa. The reviews have been very positive.

Double check whether it has a full kitchen, if that's important to you. I think it doesn't. That was one reaason I took it off myy list, otherwise it looked great

We stayed at Beit Hawa on our first trip down. Beautiful area and views. The downside is someone lives in the lower apartment but never saw or heard them.

Just another opinion, but we stayed in Sundance last August and it was wonderful. It has a lived in feel, but was clean and had plenty of room. With only two couples going, the two larger bedrooms would be very equal and private with one up and one down. Having A/C throughout the villa was great too!! The drive is easy and plenty of parking for two cars. We used the pool a little, but used the hot tub every night. The only downside is that the view isn't amazing in all directions, but if you look out one direction you see Hart Bay. Being able to hear the waves from the deck was a real plus too. If you have any questions, let me know.
