Great TR
Yo.....drum roll please...Great job. Winner. Super. etc. Thank you. Lurkers use this as a templet to what you need to do to post your report....God bless....Bill
You are never too old to have a happy childhood...
WOW, and not the "Walk" wow, what a great trip report! Thanks for taking the time and effort to write and post it!
Question: You seem pretty knowledgable about the under water marine life, do you know of any good reason why there are black spiney urchins? What in the world good do they serve? Do people eat them? Are they a food source for some masochistic fish? Even mosquitos serve a purpose (they feed some species of birds). But why Spiney Sea Urchins?? They really give me the creeps! Anyone know the answer??
Great TR! Sorry to see it end!

Thank you for taking me on a mini STJ vacation this week!
I was so inspired I went ahead and booked flights for our next trip in October! Gotta love those Aadvantage miles!
Now for the hardest part . . . choosing the villa

I'm coming out of lurkdome, which is rare, to let you know how much I enjoy your reports....I welled up at the end
...really.
We're planning our 14th family trip and reading your report just gets me soo excited. St. John is an island you can travel to and have a different experience/vacation each time...Villa, Caneel, Gallows, Cruz or Coral..or in your case all at once...
Thank you for all the detail and pics...I think Caneel is on to you, you deserve the upgrades for all your PR work.
Great Job!

Great Job!
Thanks so much for taking the time to share. Your pictures are fantastic as is your commitment to fish identification! You are brave, the shark would have freaked me out.
I am a sentimental fool and the pictures of the Caneel picnic basket took me straight back to our honeymoon nearly 13 years ago to the day. They are still using the same china, which I find quaint and comforting. We were planning a fall trip to Caneel but an opportunity to re-visit Provo, Turks and Caicos just presented itself so no STJ-Caneel this year
I just called Hubs in my office to see your pictures. He can’t believe you were snorkeling and not diving.

Becky, thank you so very much for those amazing trip reports. I looked forward to each one as I read the previous one. As I am sure you felt, I really didn't want them to end.
I loved everything about your vacation...what an incredible job you did of planning...and then relaxing and having fun.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share with everyone!

They are bottom feeders like starfish (part of the same phylum) they eat algae, mussles, sponges, and other assorted foods. They are not god's invention to torment you while snorkeling. And believe it or not they do have natural predators. Namely sea otters, wolf eels, and the Japanese (who eat the Uni "gonads" as an aphrodesiac).
