That looks way worse than a jelleyfish sting. I hope you feel better soon.

For you first aid junkies out there-- one more question-- if you don't have vinegar what do you do? Does the old fashioned advice about jellyfish stings "just pee on it" (sorry if that grosses folks out) work?
Gromit, I am no expert but I am scared sh*tless of jellies and have read a lot about them. I ALWAYS travel with the little plastic bottles of vinegar you can get at the grocery store. I stick it in the bottom of the beach bag and we are good to go.

I have read many times to "pee" on it but I have also read that peeing on it is not good so who knows but my vinegar is at the ready! Please God that I never have to use it!

Wow, that is just awful!

From what I’ve heard, vinegar is the preferred method but urine can be used if there are no other options.

Yeowch! :(

That looks so painful and that they're embedded pretty deep. NOT a good day for sure.

I would be lining up the rum drinks fast...or I'd be crying.

Good Luck with that process!

Been there done that. I used lemon that we happened to have with us until we could get vinegar. Did not try to pry them out as a young islander had told me his mother said to do. It was painful for a short while. A day or two later they disappeared.

Thanks everyone. The vinegar and rum did the trick for me. I am almost at 100% at this time.

That looks very painful. That happened to my Mom's foot once and she just had to wait until the spines came out but I do remember her trying to "pick" them out.

I was hit by a Man o War in a wave one time and it made a lasting impression. The marks (rows of black sting marks) were under my swimsuit and looked very much like these photos. Yes, the stings went right thru the swimsuit material and into my skin near my waist. A little lower and it would have hurt A LOT worse I'm sure. It doubled me over like someone hit my with a hammer. Vinegar did nothing. Had to go to the doctor for treatment. It took two weeks to finally clear up and that was with prescription strength cortizone. This did not happen in St. John. Certain turtles that are immune to the venom eat Man O War. I wish they'd eat them all!
