Periwinkle ,Rosebay, Gatehouse lower level villas

Post by martini girl »

Still searching for a 1 BR villa since the Gibney Beach Cottage was unavailable. We were willing to splurge for that location...maybe next time. Anyway, I have searched and found some mentions/reviews, but nothing really recent on Periwinkle or Rosebay, both above the Westin. Is noise from the Westin a factor for these two villas? I dislike being kept awake by music from a nearby hotel...gets on my nerves. They both look like cute, clean, affordable villas.

Regarding the Gatehouse at Peter Bay, only the lower level is available for our dates, which I see is the one with the larger kitchen...I know a few forumites have stayed there, still concerned about privacy, not sure if I like the idea of people being so very close by us. Thoughts??

I loved, loved, loved the Gatehouse at Peter Bay, but was fortunate enough to have stayed in the upper unit. I think if the upper unit were occupied, then privacy would definitely be an issue. And if I were to stay in one of the units while someone occupied the other unit, I'd want to be the one occupying the upper unit. Good luck, Ali~

MG-
I stayed at Periwinkle in Feb 02 and like this villa for the cost. It is on the first road past the Westin and around the bend facing Choc. Hole so no noise from the Westin. Rosebay is directly behind you ( see pix on caribbeanvilla.com) and you share a driveway and parking but there is plenty of privacy because of the tree and shrubs, rarely did I hear the people staying there other than when they came in the stone driveway. It was clean and I would stay there again but if I had my choice I would pick the Gatehouse for the view. I have tried to rent this twice but it was booked both times. Any question give me a pm.
Good Luck, Scott

Sweet Christine and I stayed in Periwinkle for two weeks. It was a nice spot with only two issues: hot deck with no pool and a poorly secured headboard on the master bed that would slam against the wall. Hopefully the head board will be better secured these years later.

I liked the landscaping, conveniences to Cruz Bay and the view of the stars from the hot tub.

Cheers, RickG

You might consider String of Pearls. It's right on the water just past the Westin. You can even walk along the water and get to the Westin. It's beautifully appointed and has a hot tub but no pool.
Rented through St. John Properties 34-693-8485.

We stayed at Peter Bay Gatehouse (upper unit) in December and had total privacy. Although the lower unit had the larger kitchen I felt that it also had less privacy as you can see in the kitchen window on your way upstairs. I would definately stay in the upper unit again but I wouldn't recommend the lower for privacy reasons.
