Can we go wrong with Mayan Sky villa?

Post by Gromit »

Greetings friends-- sorry it's been so long since I posted. We were originally palnning a trip to St. Vincent, but the in-laws asked if we would go to STJ this December instead.

So, full panic mode set in to find a place that would meet our needs. As many of you know I'm a "well in advance planner" kind of gal and this is cutting it a bit close (not as close as my buddy Flip Flop though!! with a last minute August trip in the works!!)for me plan wise.

Anyway, on the top of our short list is Mayan Sky, followed by Paradise Revisited and Oleander.

The in-laws are newbies. So I don't want to traumatize them by crazy road experiences. Also, I was originally more inclined to keep them closer to Cruz Bay for amenities, but I think Upper Carolina area gives us enough access to Coral Bay, our fave North Shore Beaches and Cruz bay via Centerline if we need it.

I read Budman's review of this place, but are there any other insights that folks can share? I've already done the on-line search for info.

Thanks in advance for your input!!

Mayan Sky

Post by nancyr84 »

Hi,
We stayed at this Villa several years ago. I liked it my hubbie was not crazy about it. It has sort of stark decorating. The pool was gorgeous as well as the view. The window screens did tend to let in a few bugs but not a big deal. The next year we stayed at one Particular Harbour and LOVED it. The pool was heated and the view was to die for. It is priced a lot less also. In my opinion you can get more bang for your bucks than Mayan Sky, they really raised the price after we stayed there.

Hey Gromit,

We really enjoyed our stay at Mayan Sky and the newbies that were with us dug it as well. It does look slightly different than most St John villas, more Tuscany I think, a little darker walls, dark tile, dark mahogany trim etc, but it fits in with the heavily landscaped lot which was full of color when we were there in July.

We did not have a problem with skeeters and I usually sat on the upper deck late in the evening and very early in the morning. The screens that were on the large doors allowed us to keep the place open.

I have seen Oleander and it sits in a great location. You can walk down to a pebble beach from the villa which is a plus. We have stayed in a few villas around Rendevous/Klein and I think it's a great area. The drive to Maho/Francis is @ 25 minutes???.

I checked out Paradise Revisited and it looks very nice, however I noticed the Chocolate Hole location. Pond Bay will probably be in full swing by the time you get there???

Let me know if you have any specific questions about Mayan Sky.
