Cptnkirk's first real day of Vacation
Cptnkirk's first real day of Vacation
Ok where were we, oh yea watched a gorgeous sunset with some good friends and some drinks and hit the sack. Great nights sleep slept like a log well a kicked log remember I snore like a freight train so I moved to the couch. No need for the ac as its cooler up in them hills nice breeze too. Get up around six and stare at the beautiful rafters our villa has. Sorry grayhoundmom I have a pic but I'm going to make ya suffer ya need some sort ofsurprise when you arrive. Put the pot of coffee on and let the view sink in. Wow what a great view to drink your java to and wake up to the world. The rest of the gang rises about seven and I cook up some eggs and bacon for everyone. Man I love the smell of bacon in the morning especially on St John.

Oh I wish every day my biggest decision was which beach to go to. After a group pow wow we decide to head east. Head down centerline on a absolutely gorgeous day big puffy clouds and lots of sun and low humidity. Turn at the sign and start to see all the cast of characters the east end is known for donkeys, chickens goats no pigs though have yet to see a pig. We head towards Vies but can't quite decide were exactly you are supposed to enter so we head down the road with intentions to come back. We stop at the little place were the road is right on the ocean were Kenny ( not that Kenny) has his boat. We can see Vies but the wind is creating quite a chop on her beach and this spot is like glass. So we ask the girls if we could snorkel and to our surprise they say yes. If you know the spot it's not much to talk about maybe ten or fifteen ft of sand beach butted right up to the road. They seemed happy as clams to get a start on there St John tan so off we went. No big deal as we went along the rocks until we got out to the rock outcroppings and then it got pretty darn good. The clarity was as good as it gets and it really was like glass out there. Seen a few cudas and all the usual suspects give it a try sometime, never have heard anyone talk about it before. Get back from our snorkel take a bunch of pics ( that I lost) and headed back to the villa for lunch.
Back at the villa we cook up some grub and make some drinks. Sit out by the pool and villa gravity starts pulling on us. We intended to hit another beach but the villa gravitational pull is just to great and the drinks are flowin freely. So we surrender to the laws of nature and just party by the pool for the day.

Time for the BB meeting so we get cleaned up and head in. We park at Denzel's and run into Ruth and Ron on the way over, they say they're out to go on a sunset sail with some friends ( I later learn thru the grapevine she is going out on a sail with Marcia and Pete and a drunken pole dancer) Nice to meet ya guys. We get to the BB and head for the beach look all around and see no one. Can't believe no one showed then look up at the bar and I see 17th Hole. All four of us squeeze in on the ledge and introduce ourselves to Dan (17th) his wife Tamara, Karen or Thelma take your pick( boats) and Bobby her steady order some painkillers and let the party begin. Little later shopper3 (RUTH)shows up with her Canadian Crazies. We head for the beach were we can hear each other talk and the fun begins.

EVERYONE THAT NIGHT

NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF STORY BOBBY'S TELLIN BUT THE CANUK LOOKS SHOCKED

All I can say is what a fun Bunch of People we had a great time hope we see ya in our future travels to St John. I remember when I first started on the forum and thought it was weird to go to a bar and meet total strangers but it is so worth the effort. We disperse as the night goes on but not before grabbin the spoon to take care of business hand the spoon to next in line and were off to find somewhere a little more intimate to eat.
Well by golly look Woodys got a table open out front so we decide that's were we will eat, love their burgers, how's that for intimate. As soon as we sit down out comes a group with a waitress to seat them. Hey its Woodys ya just sit down we didn't offer to give up the seats but did offer a knee if they bought the drinks they were gracias and gave it a chuckle (I know that it wasn't nice of us but I bet they learned a lesson sit someone then go get a waitress) I just love eating and drinking at a table on the street at Woody it's always so entertaining to watch some of St John's finest. Great service and
Burgers as usual and fun street entertainment.

This nice old chap had a funny line for us. I said hey man how ya doin he says good just got back on a couple day sail with eight women and I had to get back on St. John for some more Viagra. Only on St John.

While taking some pics across the street some local wanted to know if I wanted to buy some smoke I told him no thanks but I got some really bomb $hit from Jamaica and would he like to buy some he just looked at me like what the hay I chuckled and said just kiddin man.Well time to head down the hiways and byways of St John so we decide to take Northshore home turn the brights on and remember shoulder to shoulder and we arrive safely home sweet home. What a fun day time to hit the sack.

Thanks CaptnKirk--- Nice report. Looks like you had a perfect night for the Beach Bar gathering. The fellow in your last picture is Daniel, I believe. We ran into him frequently at Woody's and at Larry's Landing on our March trip---he painted rocks for a number of the college and high school kids on our trip.

What a great report, so much fun! I am really regretting not coming out to the forum gathering now. It was our first night in Coral Bay and I was being lazy about not driving back to Cruz Bay...but I see that you did it!
We got smacked with villa gravity pretty bad our entire trip. Looks like your group did too--fun pool picture!

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
