Hey Cptn ... we still bring back a 4 pack. Just had the store at the airport bubble wrap them and checked the box through. The bottles made it with no problem the last two years.

But alas  my bottles from November are gone and had to buy some here.

Though now that I'm thinking about it ... it is a great excuse to return.

The only thing from the USVIs that we cannot get at home is Ponche Kuba.

As far as serious traveling with alcohol, we have friends who buy cases like those from winecruzer.com or winestuff.com. There are cheaper cases with wheels and handles as well. But, you need to have pretty special stuff to justify the price of the luggage.

We routinely travel with packing tape, bubble wrap and ziplock bags to Europe for our goodies.

I find that I only pay about $2 more for Cruzan at home than I do in the VIs, so I don't bother lugging it back any more. 8)

Really? Good for you. The 750ml flavored Cruzan recently went up to $14.99 where I usually buy it here in NJ.

Took a splurge recently on the 10 Cane Rum (from Trinidad), on sale was still over 20 bucks, but it is quite good.

We did not bring back any duty free spirits this time either, I just did not feel like dealing with it. We should have though--the prices are about 3 times more here than there!

Cruzan is pretty expensive at most stores, but I buy it at BevMo and I have a BevMo card, so it works out really well. If you guys have a BevMo in your city, you really should check it out! I can get Virgin Islands Pale ale there, too.... when it's in stock! (Which is rarely is!!)

I saw $5.49 per 750 ml Cruzan Dark at Pine Peace in March. AH Riise at the airport had 1.1 liter (what's with that?) for $7.99.
