Hey captnkirk,

If you need any info on "mini's" let me know - but I will tell you they need alot of exercise (we do 2-3+ miles per day) and a job to do -still working on that one though - but soooooo smart (and cute  )

As far as names ....

Maho
Soggy (after soggydollar)
Spice (after Ruth :) )
Reef (could be the shoes, the reef bay trail or the "other" type of reef  )
Petra (for the petroglyphs but abit girlie maybe)
Jost
Coconut

and my favorites......Coqui (for the tree frogs but pronounced Coki) or Tiki (for the tiki huts or tiki torches) but most important of all, the names of our island puppies :)

kyg - good luck with the pup - and oh yeah, buy a new vacuum cleaner NOW (Lab shedding = yikes!).
Speaking of vacuums, ours was old, so got one of those iRobot Roombas a month ago. Very impressed. Well engineered, works really well. You wont believe all the stuff it picks up.

Augie and cptn - love the pup and adult shots - almost as cute as our Sheltie

Kygirl, happy birthday! I feel your sadness. Like you, my baby (babies, actually -- twins) are going off to school......as in college. I already have two dogs, collies (the bigger version of jmq's dog). Anyway, your new pup is sooo adorable. As are everyone's pics. I, like so many others, have such a soft spot for animials, particularly dogs. Good luck with a name. Sometimes it's fun to just watch them for a week or so to see if they do some quirky thing that helps to give them a fitting name. Tom, get the dog. You can always have someone watch it for you or even put it in a kennel for when you go away, unless you're away for more than like 2 months out of the year or something. Ali~

Augie-
That is one of the most beautiful labs I've seen. I have a black lab who was a rescue from Arkansas. She's definitely worth the shedding!!! :D

We had a yellow lab named Jeb Beaudean (good strong southern name!)We had to put him down last Oct. right before my trip, he was 17 and lived a good life...I highly recommend LOTS of swimming, the vet swore that helped with his good health and longevity..we got 2 American Water Spaniels for christmas (brother and sis)I had a list a mile long of island names, but we setted on Marley and Chesney, names for two famous howlers!.. These are the ones I can remember

Jost
Maho
Cruz
Captain
Mate
Foxy
Ivan
Toots
Chutney
Cooper
Pusser (eliminated quickly after considering how it would sound being yelled on the beach!)
Morgan
Mango
Tango

Go luck, looks like you got a good lookin' dog
I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks than in the drink with a boat on the rocks

Yeah! ... more great name ideas! Thanks for the long lists Pia and BOATS!
b-as-u-r ... I'd love to wait a few weeks, or even just a day or two, but my family is pressuring me to make a decision.
jmq, I know all about the shedding. I might have to get one of those IRobot Roombas!
I'm enjoying all of your dog pictures too!
I'll let you all know when I make a decision.

We got back from STJ last weekend. When I picked my german shepherd up from the boarders, she had a litter of kittens she was looking for homes for. I took 2 little girls and due to the very recent trip I named them Gibney and Oppy (for oppenheimer).

Congratulations! Our new yellow lab will be born in July and we are anxiously awaiting having her. She won't replace Sophie but she will be a welcome addition. It's so lonely without a dog. Sophie was the same color as your new lab. Good luck on naming your pup. Duffy sounds good, but so do some of the other names. Our daughter wants us to get a male so that we can name him Fenway!!

Fenway is a really cute name for Red Sox fans! My son loves the Yankees, so he wouldn't think so. I still haven't decided. I'm getting LOTS of pressure at home!!
Thanks everyone for all of the birthday wishes. :D

Happy, Happy Birthday, kygirl! Hope you had a great day. Did you have a big celebration?

What a cute present! As far as a name goes, I vote for Woody to commemorate your hubby's recent criminal chasing exploits all over Fayette County followed by his tv appearance. 8)

P.S. If you'll pm me your email, I've got a cute ecard to send you. :D

I promised my family that I would decide today. I made a list with 10 of my favorite names, plus my boys' favorite. I was so close to Jumbie or Woody or ...(several of your suggestions) ...
anyway, I can't say no to my babies, so we have a little Jeter. Thanks for all of the great suggestions! Tom, Jumbie was a VERY close second! Actually, that's what I've been calling him today.
Goodnight Jeter!
