Reading this is cracking me up.
Much a do about nothing.
Like I've always said, don't ask the question if you don't want to hear the answer. I've learned my lesson on that piece of advice raising a teenager!
And please nobody take these statements and twist them around into something negative!

Tattoo Doer's and Not If Hell Freezes Over Would I.......
I've been reading with great interest all the heartfelt comments about tattoos.
The only thing I can add is that I have one. At 53 I took the plunge and have ink. Can I say that I never really like them on women??? Ever???? Thought they were cheesy and "why would you do that?".
My reason was very personal. I had a 20 plus on back in October of 2007 who had wanted one for about two years. We would talk and he'd say, "mom, you'd never do it." I countered with, "when you're ready, I'm getting one too." An on-going commentary for two years. Finally, he'd been talking about it for several weeks and I said pick a week-end. He has worked at Maho, stayed at Maho for 3 summers and adores everything STJ as do Mom and Dad. We decided we wanted the petroglyph that looks like a ram horn.
Mom was terrified but determined to do something totally out of character. Son was saying, "mom, it will be o.k." in waiting room of tatt parlor.
Needless to say, I am so proud of my tattoo. It is about an inch and a half across and I had it placed under a shoulder blade. It is aqua with a darker blue outline. Every morning when I hop out of the shower, I grin....I am such a rebellious mid-life mom! I love it and won't get another. It was one time bonding experience with my baby boy (he'd hate that!). He's 6'3" and mom is 5'6" - his is large on upper arm, black with shading. It was a love of the same place and something that we did together that I won't ever regret. I did it for myself - I can see it when I wear a bathing suit, doesn't show when I wear a tank top (unless I want it to) and it has such a special meaning to only me. The reason, which has been stated before, is you get it because there is a special bond, memory, reason for getting it. It has nothing to do with "why don't you show it all the time if you have." It is a personal expression of soemthing meaningful to you. It makes you grin (especially at 53) when you see it. I know this probably makes no sense to anyone who doesn't or won't have one. When you finally get one for a reason, it all makes sense!

Ponytails are passe? Damn, no one told me! Not that I ever gave a duck's butt to what was "in", or not. I'm on the 60 side of my mid 50's and I've had one off and on since the late 60's. Presently, it's pretty long. No ear rings, though.Pete (Mr. Marcia) wrote:.

No disrespect intended, but you get "grandfathered in." It you had the "thing" (earring, ponytail, goatee, etc.) before it became a thing and then stopped being a thing, you are okay with keeping the thing. It's funny, Pete. I always said that if, and when, my hair thinned to a point that it bothered me, I'd just shave it. Now it seems every other guy I see around here has a shaved head and goatee. It's a little too "in" for me now, so I'm one of those passe, aging, balding guys with a ponytail. I still get a bunch of fecal matter about it. I live in one of the most politically liberal counties in the country, but boy are they uptight about appearances. A guy goes out and gets a little tail and everybody makes a big deal out of it!

Tracy I love my wifes tramp stamp kinda accentuates her ASSets Not sure how a turtle would look on your lower back though. Good luck on the final resting place for your turtle I'm sure it will look great. Good for you on the weight loss and excercising. I took the opposite route when I turned 40 before that I was pretty fit, worked out and didn't party that much. Now I party alot don't workout and gained 30 lbs but its been fun Looking at our pics from last weeks vacation it's time to start working out again
