Newbie Trip Report Part 2

Post by WSUbeachcoug »

April 5
So Tien gave us our tour of our house "Dream Come True" Loved the house, loved the beach right in front, the only negative was the drive way.
You need 4 wheel drive. I have read on the forum that alot of villas are left with condiments, alcohol, etc.
Our house had nothing. I believe it was our companies policy to remove everything. Not sure if I agree with this especially when looking for sugar for my coffee the first morning.
Anyway, we dropped off everything and headed into town to Deli Grotto. Really impressed with the food there. Excellent sandwiches and had a peanut butter bar for dessert! We headed out of town to kill time.
We headed to our first beach. It was Hawksnest.
As we walked on to the beach again I was so taken with the beauty and the color of the water.
We hung out here and then headed back to the house.
By this time it had been cleaned and we unpacked and took advantage of the pool. Opened some beers, chips and salsa and relaxed. We stayed in tonight and BQ steaks.
April 6 Sunday
Today I wanted to get up early and head to Miss Lucys but did not happen. I guess the jet lag set in.
We got up and decided to drive. We drove to Mayo Bay beach and then turned around and drove back to trunk.
Hung out here and hubby snorkeled a little. I soon realized that I was not going to be able to keep up with him. So most of the trip he took off and snorkeled on his own.
Our routine during the week was to get to the beaches at about 9 AM and head back to our house at about 2.
We would then swim back at the house or at our beach.
Have cocktail hour and BQ.
Aril 7 Monday Today we spent the day at Trunk and I practiced my snorkling over on the right side of the beach while hubby was all over. I still am not comfortable. If water drips in the mask after awhile I want to stand up and take the mask off.
Loved Trunk but as with all the beaches I am alittle surprised at how crowded they get at about 11am.
April 7 Tuesday
We are a little sunburned today so we decide to drive to Coral Bay. When deciding on were to stay I almost stayed here. As we drive I realize that this being my first time I made the right choice staying closer in.
Next time maybe different. Checked out coral bay and
donkey diner, skinny legs. There is a vast difference in pace between Cruz and Coral.

It's probably too late for this trip, but see if your hubby, or someone in a dive shop can show you how to clear your mask while you're snorkeling - once you learn how to do that, it will help you to snorkel for longer if you'd like to.

Great reports - I'm enjoying reading them - it brings back good memories of our trip...
Come see us!
