Young Lady from STT wins national Poetry Outloud Contest

Post by flip-flop »

This isn't really travel related, but has to do w/ STT so I figured it was on topic enough.

I heard this on NPR on my way home from work this afternoon. Shawntay Henry from St. Thomas recites "Frederick Douglass", a poem by Robert E. Hayden. Personally I think she did a fantastic job!

Thanks for the link flipflop. I think she did a great job with that!

While listening I immediately thought of Maya Angelou; not comparing but she just came to mind. I really enjoy listening to her and maybe young Shawntay admires her as well.

Apparently she won from a field of 200,000 entries.

I am glad you all liked it too!
